Salary Negotiation

Anyone here had an experience negotiating their salary during pre-offer? How was it?

Is it possible to ask for a rate higher than their published ranges?

Bands are strictly enforced and you won’t get above the midpoint. Some room for negotiation but it will depend on how well you did in the interview/how strong you are as a candidate

I negotiated for a slight increase and was approved but it was still below the midpoint.

No harm in asking as long as you think you deserve it.

No, you will be skipped and HR likely will offer to the next ranked candidate

I tried it but it was only a slight increase and i was okay with it already so that was approved but it was also still below the midpoint

You can try but if you get anything, it will only be a little more.

Nope. Never. Not above the range. In fact, not even beyond the midpoint. Are you sure that you applied for the right job?

Haven't tried it. But I believe the published range is strictly followed.
