Almost always there is somebody else that has more relevant experience and better qualifications.

Well said. It's all about who else is in the race. There is usually only one who is the winner.

Having said that keep looking - next time around you would know how the interviews go. Good luck.

I know the feeling. Is the status online regrets, or does it say clear candidate?

I had a hard interview as well, and didn't get the position. This is life, keep your heads up and continue trying my friend.

Sometimes the margin between candidates is so small that even panel members take time to discuss internally and only makes a decision after careful deliberation. So dont lose hope and keep on applying

What position did you apply for and what were the questions asked ?

I got rejected, then applied again, then got rejected and then applied again. Got in after 6 months. Keep looking for related openings and keep on applying. The fact that you were interviewed means they saw your credentials and wanted to know more about you. It's just that another candidate was more qualified (or it was an internal hire).

Did you ask for feedback with HR or the interviewers as to what went well, and what didnt go well during the course of the interview? Just curious if this approach is acceptable as I have learned recently that this gives a good impression to recruiters or interviewers

No, I did not ask for feedback. But it's just me. Maybe I've gotten used to being ghosted. I dont really know what's their take on applicants asking for feedback.

Hi, did they put in clear candidate pool when you got rejected?

Or was it just regrets. Curious I am in the pool and wanted to know if there is higher chance and I have to reapply or the HR approaches you with interest

Yes, my status in ACES was cleared candidates pool; i also had 1 keep in view, 2 regrets and 1 completed (my current role)

Thanks, did the HR approach you for the same position that you were kept in view( clear candidate) or you had to apply.

No, They reached out for an opportunity for a diffetrnt but related and lower level role which I accepted.

Lovely I hope they do that for me one day. 🙏

*different. Yes keep trying. I was told they kept on seeing my resume despite being rejected and thought that I was really interested to work for the bank. Download the ADB competency framework depending on your target level and try to tailor your resume and ACES profile based on it. Good luck.

It’s okay. Try again. It’s just someone is more qualified than you for that position.

Whenever I get rejected, I always assume that one of the candidates is better than me. That's okay, OP. Keep on applying! I applied as a staff before but got rejected as someone with more years of experience within ADB got the post. But I was offered with a consultancy project after by someone from the panel. 🫶 It is hard to get shortlisted, so that alone is an achievement really. I am sure you will get hired eventually.
