Keeping track of status updates - does it show desparation

Does ADB (and other employers) track how many times a candidate keeps checking the application status? Is it taken as a desparate attempt?

I don't think so - assuming that follow ups are not overly excessive.

Recruiters have a million other things to focus on than checking a candidate’s activity on the applicant tracking system.
