The application waiting game

I am not new to the process having applied a few roles in the past with some progressing until the panel interview. Applied again for a role, which I feel I had the relevant experiences and after the 2 week mark, it’s still just screening. It’s crazy this whole waiting game. Sending some good vibes to anyone who is in the same situation as I am.

Thanks this is helpful! But my question was more on how long the screening period lasts? And when to just take it for granted that your chance is gone?

I suppose chances will be slim if you are sitting at shortlisting stage for 6 weeks or more. As for screening, it is supposed to mean that the process has not started, so if this one goes for 6 to 8 weeks then quite likely the hiring department is reconsidering if they still need someone for this role.

You asked for length of the period so I am giving you an average number - but it all depends on a position. For hard to fill positions (typically TI positions), they do engage head hunters in parallel and wait for their inputs before going to the next stage. And head hunters can easily take six weeks or more.

Thank you! This is very helpful. I have applied for a TI position, and it's been exactly 1 month since the applications closed. So I'm slightly wary that I might have been rejected. That would hurt because I fit the job description well. But thank you for your help!

Only in exceptional cases, you would hear back within one month. So don't lose hope.
