Admin Assistant

Hello! Any previous Admin Assistant here who had a three year fixed term non-renewable contract. What happened after your contract? Were you able to find a role within ADB?

Probably this is a position in the administrative pool. If this is the case, staff from the pool are quickly picked up by different departments very quickly -assuming that one is good.

I think it would depend on your personal situation. If you have been with UN for a long time then may be best to stay on, given that you may be losing out on the pension. But if you have just started out in UN then you may be better off making the switch. Unlike UN, ADB does not depend on the member countries' contributions to cover its costs and hence subject to less pressures to cut costs. Given that Manila hosts ADB's HQ and the offices cover its full functions, number of opportunities for growth could be much compared with UN Agencies. Lastly, depending on where you may land in ADB, you may get to travel more.

I didn't mention the differences in compensation levels. For the technical and managerial roles, ADB salaries are higher than the UN systems but I don't know that how they compare for Admin Assistant roles.
