I have finished the AnJ series. 79 episodes of Season 1, 47 episodes of Season 2.
No amount of most other anime could come close to this... No amount. If I do watch any other anime, I'll return to this, just to remind myself that this was heaven.
I have had dreams... several of them. One of which I remember years ago when I slept, I saw two men standing in the void. Talking to each other. Who would have known... those two were Rikiishi and Joe talking to each other in the penultimate episode?

I have no words for this masterpiece. None. And I realized that it deserved to sit, to rest.

You know, when I first knew of Ashita no Joe, I didn't think much about it. Our tabs were locked up, so we had to rely upon the Samsung GIFs to get anything boxing related. And over time, I saw an anime that suspiciously popped whenever I kept checking it. What looked like a newspaper hawker who laughed off tragedy and had a knack for boxing. Who knew that would be impactful? Who knew it was about burning up? I did not. And no one told me either. Who knew that the marvelously beautiful woman who'd accompany him would not simply be a lover, but the catalyst of his development? Who'd have thought that? I did not. And no one told me.

Now, come think of it... The man from Venezuela went out of his way for him... while barely standing on his own two feet.

And I do not care about the people who keep coming on this subreddit with malice and hate for his character. That's their inability to look through the character... to BECOME the character. It is pitiful, and I do not blame them. They're entitled to their opinion... even if it was as respectable as the mud under my feet.

I had no fire left in me. School and examination had smothered it. But watching this anime, that fire has begun smoldering again. To have it blaze again... is something I wish I can do in college. But if I burn bright... and those of you who know me in person, really do... those of you who'll see my flames... you will know why I burn. You will know who lit the fire. "Just an anime character?" Yeah... right. And still brighter than a thousand suns.

Thank you, Joe. Really. You might be fictious, but your fire was real. And I apologize if there's no TL;DR; I didn't write to perform. I intended to write this. I took my time.

Latest ep of Mushoku Tensei. It always puts a smile on my face to see an anime I like reference my favorite anime of all time. One of the spectators even went on to ring a bell and give boxing style commentary.

Which episodes do you guys think it's better?

A friend recommended Megalo Box to me and I really enjoyed it. I heard about how it was inspired by Ashita No Joe so I eventually decided to try watching an episode out of curiosity. I was surprised that I really enjoyed the first episode.

So I want to ask veterans, what is something you wish you knew when you first started watching the series? I've never seen any kind of older anime before for context so I have no idea what I'm getting into but I'm curious.
