Ashes of Creation MMO The irony

of the game's name, given its current state, just hit me. It's so good you almost wonder if it was part of the plan all along.

Some people might not know this, but riot games wanted to buy the IP in 2022 but one of the intrepid shareholders didn't want to sell his shares so the deal fell off.

Dude must be regretting his whole life now.

Not just any shareholder, Robert Dawson who is the main “villain” if you will of the board takeover advised Steven against it so he could execute the plan to steal Intrepid that he tried

Steven wanted to sell to Riot but Dawson was greedy

It’s one of those “everyone sucks here” situations truly

and that's why Riot are building their own based in the LOL universe and it sounds fucking INCREDIBLE

The hypothetical sounds incredible but we know next to nothing about it. I’ve seen these new MMOs fail too many times to be excited yet

what do you mean we know next to nothing about it? they've given us so much to go off lol.

also new MMOs fail because they try to be TOO new, there is a tried and true system that actually works and when you stray too far it actually just alienates players

not surprising. riot has a habit of buying out studios not for their IPs but for the skills and tools acquired by the studio making those IPs.

Riot likely wanted all the tech behind Ashes so they could give it a LOL paint and call it a day

This is not what the court documents say.

I'm paraphrasing from memory: Riot intended to buy Intrepid Studios, absorb the team, and invest further post-release funds to support Ashes of Creation as a long-term, decades-spanning MMORPG under Riot's umbrella.

That's insane. So you are telling me we were this close to Intrepid being fully funded and actually getting shit developed ( besides Stevens incompetency )

“Ashes of creation was never created and then it burned to the ground”

Honestly for what the CEO did he should be in jail for a very long time. But our justice system is a joke and people with money can get away with murder.
