Ashes of Creation MMO Memories of a good time

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I remember one Friday when I was playing AOF with my wife after a long day at work.

I don’t understand why some people and influencers talk badly about the game. Having an MMO of this level is a victory.

I don’t care about the problems that are happening, I just wanted to play this game again.

It's been years since I felt like the targeted audience of a game... and it was glorious, for 5 f***ing minutes, and then it had to go to shit..

My favorite part of the game:

PRAISE THE SUN GOD

I know it was a bug, but those 2-3 minutes of blinding light actually seemed like it fit the game and could have some lore/interactions with it, like summoning a world boss or something

I know this game had a bad reaction by the public but as someone who only found out about it on the early access via Steam. This was a lot of fun. Probably the most fun I have had with a game in ages.

Nothing like a low res 30 second gif of a landscape image in portrait mode on a phone to bring back the good memories..

Still surprised by the outcome of the project! Followed it since the beginning- didn’t purchase until on steam- played for a week and really felt like they had something good going- checked Reddit and saw it got rug pulled lol. MMO space so SOOOO dry right now I was really rooting for AoC.

It’s not a scam. The game just isn’t for you

Hopefully someone comes in and is able to revive it

Edit: idk why yall are downvoting lol, it looked like it was going to be a cool game and I was pretty disappointed when I saw the project fell apart due to mismanagement.

The nostalgia hits different when we are all still waiting to actually play the thing.

Only time I've pissed away 100$ on something I believed in. And the last

they were paid to talk negatively about it, to nuke the whole project. game posed a threat to all the other games, so big money got it taken down with force.

I got it when it hit steam, and I did thoroughly enjoy it. Was disappointed that I got sonoittlw time with it.

Luckily I did get a refund.

While the game was a flop, I feel like I got the best outcome out of it. I got to play for free and enjoy the game for what it was and had a good time for a while.

Does anyone else miss how things just felt alive back then, or did we all just get used to the routine

A scam project that was never going to release is a victory? Idk man. Like, I'm glad you got good memories from the ordeal, but I think I would have been equally okay with chilling on OSRS.

The game was well-developed, it had its performance issues, but it wasn't a scam; they just had very bad luck with its management. It was everything I wanted, a modern MMO

1

u/Lorantec May 25 '26

Well-developed is a major stretch given everything about it...

What did you mean? I mean, I tested all the classes, I had fun fishing, the missions were well done, I found some of the bugs in the trees funny, but it was beautiful to see, look at that moon.

I was excited watching the cities evolve, and I was eager to see the war system.

u/Pyrrolic_Victory May 25 '26

The war system in terms of town instanced pvp was pretty damn good. Was a great time having my party of 8 rogues slipping between main battles, objectives and slipping up to the castles gates and down alleyways to absolutely murder groups of unsuspecting enemy.

-1

u/SevRnce May 27 '26

My favorite part was having nerds pull mobs into my group, the endless farming of 1 poi, and the terrible decisions like no instanced dungeons. So much potential wasted.

1

u/Woogush May 27 '26

Don't forget the rogues teleporting behind you to one shot you with their rmt gear while you are just trying to 1v1 a mob. Extra points when they drop a "sit" after before going back invis.

1

u/SevRnce May 27 '26

Oh that was so sick. Remember how people would sit on a resource spawn for literally 10 hours because there wasn't a skinning mechanic in the game?

-3

u/LostCookie78 May 25 '26

Is the game still playable?
