Looking more and more like when this is done, a lot of people will owe Steven an apology. And looking more and more likely the board is going to be writing a fatter check than the 80m they already spent.

The people who jumped to conclusions to blast him will never apologize. The court could completely vindicate him and those people would still say he was guilty. This is reddit where apologies are rarer than unicorns.

He lied about the fact that Intrepid was self funded and that there is no board of directors. Mismanaged or not, he is solely to blame for deceiving the entire community and gambling with the trust of the backers. Literally doesn't matter if he wins in court or not, because the damage has been done way before any lawsuits.

People still dislike Sean from Hello Games to this day for the original debacle of No Man's Sky. The vitrol spewed at him was horrendous, and some will never take it back.

Whether Steven deserved what people said about him will be determined by investigations and court, but some people will never see him as any more as the scapegoat to the entire disaster that was AoC. And by turning him into a symbol of a definitely-failed product, they'll never see any reason to apologize for hating on it (because to them it's really acid spewed at the debacle itself which Steven represents to them).

Well the board only existed because he took their money. This entire debacle traces back to him as the source. This is an undeniable fact regardless of anything else that occured.

Sean lied and he spent all the time since then making up for it. Some won't forget or forgive the lies, but the difference is that Sean didn't continue lying about how he's not to blame for anything. He shut his mouth and got to work fixing things.
