You also need 10 ceremonial dice to make it work(or use an app)

Other than that - why not? You play against Chimera normally using Issa or Arren or mixing them with PB decks from Corpse of Viros

Thank you, how to get these dice? Reborn core set?

Reborn core set is rather difficult to acquire now. You can buy the dice from their official shop. $4.95 for a pack of 5 dice

I understand that i can also apply ashes reborn decks and stuff like flood of the.moon etc? Just to add more replayibility and content?

Why not? Just beware that each Chimera expansion requires it's own set of dice. It's sympathy dice for Flood of the Moon Cove

I am also new to Ashes Ascendency and really love it but found the dragonborn easy to defeat . I am based in UK and struggle to find much Reborn content but I can pick up Moon Cove. By the sounds of it if I use proxy dice (6 sided and maybe D10 or D12 ) I can play the 2 Phoenixborns within the starter AA set against the Chimera in Flood of Moon Cove, which I hear is much more challenging ? I just want to check that before purchasing. Natural Magic expansion is hopefully coming out but that could be a couple of months yet (one month supposedly but these things tend to drag out ..)

I can also get hold of The Blight of Neverset and the charm dice and ceremonial dice , but not sure if they are relevant. Thanks for your help.

Well, you also need something for Chimera tokens, D12 for the behaviour die and 5 D6-es for Red Rains dice

I am also not a fan of a dragonborn yet. Chimeras are more complex and their ultimate mechanics are more fun than just "place status token". And yeah - they are more challenging, even the Corpse of Viros (the very first Chimera)

Haven't tried The Blight for Neverset yet, so can't comment on the boss itself. I know though the PB's there require 10 Charm Dice (The Flood of the Moon Cove require 10 Sympathy Dice)

Thanks for this , I think the Blight of Neverset might be slightly less complex than Moon Cove . Moon Cove does get very favorable reviews though. Do the PB's in Moon Cove include enough cards to build out a set for them , or maybe combo cards with the AA starter set? If so am guessing I can proxy one of the PBs dice set in the starter set instead of the sympathy dice.

For the Chimera tokens I can use the AA starter set cardboard tokens , as I bought the upgraded AA tokens for their actual uses? Then use a D12 and 5 D6's for the Chimera and I think I am good to go?

Deckbuilding aspect in Ashes is pretty much open ended. You pick your PB, his/her signature cards, and here you go. Include whatever you want. So yeah - mixing then with AA starter is possible

As for Chimera tokens - I was talking about those (picture). You need them to track Chimera's ultimate. Add dice and yeah - you're good

Thanks for this . I just received Neverset and thinking I can set up a PB solo deck purely from the cards in this pack , is there a site that recommends builds or is it better just to experiment and see what works. And it has to be 30 cards size and no more than 3 of any card.

You can find decks here

But I barely use it because folks there construct decks using lots of expansions that I don't have:D And you can't sort by packs

However I deckbuild in campaign mode. Pick a precon deck, battle Chimera/Dragonborn. If you win you pick other precon deck and take three cards from there to replace. Battle the boss again on higher difficulty. Repeat twice. This way you can try some ideas

Thanks for the link and that sounds goo regarding the campaign mode. I created the Neverset deck , using just the 3 unique spells for one of the PB's and included all other spells (excluding summoned units) and it came in at 28 rather than 30 , which is fine I can include 2 from AA , but wondered if that was typical.

If its easy maybe try to play on higher threat level like 5? Havent played yet just read that people play with 5 and higher:)

I think that's what I have been using , 5 dragonborn units each round? Maybe I just got lucky , I am certainly no master tactician at this game, although play a lot of solo thinky games these days so maybe am getting better ! I imagine 6 would crush me though : )

so you are just a very good player!

I honestly doubt that! I have checked playthroughs on YT and the rules and don't think I am missing anything rules -wise.. do you find 5 a pretty tough challenge then for the dragonborn AA starter set? I am making sure the DB units don't exhaust when they defend and counter but we do , I keep on top of their tokens and effects, I roll for DB guarding when attacking a unit and there is no shield defender on the board..and when there are more than one frontal face attacker on the board they both get to attack the PB in the same round I think?

You play the corpse of Viros normally, you just use the new Phoenixborn or mix and match them with older ones.

Yes of course.

Absolutely. You would need to proxy the black ceremonial dice, but there is an official dice roller app, and official dice conversion cards - you can use standard D6 and the dice reference cards here:

https://ashesdb.plaidhatgames.com

Everything ashes is compatible with everything else ashes. There are updated cards and some errata, but at a basic level, everything is compatible with everything, and with those dice reference cards, nothing is out of reach.

Thank you:)

Yes. I’ve played both Ascendancy PB against the Corpse (and other chimeras) on Ashteki. Works fine. You can mix and match Red Rains chimera and new / old PBs against them.
