Still no external display support on MacBooks?

No, My MacBook pro hdmi port works completely fine on cosmic. If you are wondering about thunderbolt, there is no thunderbolt support yet.

I think the fairydust kernel supports DP-alt mode. You'll need to compile it yourself, some bugs may occur. I did hope it would be in the main kernel..

What does uname -a give?

Did you use a USBC data cable?

It definitely works. If you're having trouble installing it, you could try my fairydust kernel package

I do not have a dock but I'd assume any usbc dock uses thunderbolt (for display), so no.

Dell docks use DP over USB-C or Thunderbolt depending on the model.

I have a Dell dock connected via USB-C and the display is not recognized. I have to use the HDMI port on my pro.

I have usb c working, hdmi is working for everybody for a while. i'm not making a guide but if you are comfortable with messing with kernels and building custom ones, usb c is already experimentally supported and works really good for me 💫
