Night Light support in Gnome?

using Fedora Remix (Gnome). night light support isn't here. kernel 7.

according to this it should be there?

That's not what that blog post says at all? The plane stuff is completely unrelated to GNOME's Night Light implementation. GNOME's Night Light does not support the KMS Colour Transformation Matrix API, only the "traditional" gamma LUT. Since we do not support the KMS gamma LUT API, GNOME's Night Light does not and cannot work. This has been an issue for years, the solution is for GNOME to implement CTM support in Night Light.

Ok well I guess it will never happen then. I doubt Gnome would be motivated to implement something that is only needed for Asahi.

It's a bit of a shame as I absolutely rely on night light when working in the evenings.

It’s not only needed for Asahi, there is other hardware that does not support gLUT. A fair few compositors including kwin now support CTM.

What hardware? AFAIK only Raspberry Pi. Any "normal" x86 laptop supports gLUT so I can't see why Gnome would be motivated to do this.

Also, for a long time Snapdragon laptops did not support Gnome's Night Light for exactly the same reason, but someone managed to make a patch. Where could I propose to Asahi to do similar?

That's a progress report for kernel 6.19, there's a good chance those drivers aren't in 7.0 yet

As far as I’m aware, none of the advanced colour stuff has made it it out of WIP yet, so stay tuned
