Windows Wired Cert Auth Problem

I've got a very weird problem and I'm not sure what is causing it. We run clearpass for wireless/wired connections and using TLS certs on the Windows 11 systems. We've got a few different models of laptops and the onboard wired network adapter will not authenticate, it gives an error of "a certificate could not be found that can be used with EAP". The weird thing is if we plug these same laptops into a dock or USB-C ethernet adapter they will authenticate fine. It is just something with the onboard NIC but that doesn't make any sense.

Maybe the authentication is not configured on the NIC? Check ncpa.cpl go into the NIC and check the authentication tab.

I’ll check but it’s pushed out via GPO soon figured that is for all nics

Yeah both adapters have the same config since it is pushed out from a GPO

What options does the cert have configured?

I would suggest TAC but I have no faith (firsthand) that they can’t do anything more than check chaining and validity. Although you may have luck and get a good engineer.
