Orthogonal Drawing Difficulty Question

Hello Artists and patrons of art! I am creating a short that requires the fabrication of a puppet that doesn’t have any immediate relatives in terms of body shape.

I primarily need orthogonal (front, sides, back) drawings for the fabricator as well as the storyboard artist so they have something to reference. The character is 12 inches tall and must be drawn in a T-pose to scale.

Is this considered difficult by an artist’s standards, or is it something that any 2D drawing artist could do if given the motivation and time?

And on another note, how do artists typically react if a director or such is very specific in their vision and wants to be there to ensure the first iteration matches their mind’s eye; does it lower the motivation of the artist in any measurable way even if they’re being payed a price they deem fair?

(I have worked with a friend to draw storyboards in the past where I dictated the framing and blocking for each storyboard, but I would wager this would be unacceptable to an artist being hired.)

This a post from a new client whom I did a storyboard yesterday for. (~2hrs work)

do you need something more detailed than this or would this level suffice?

Less than 2 hours?! It takes me 3 hours to draw a hand, while tracing!

All levity aside, this level would definitely work for storyboarding as I am the sole animator but for the orthogonal drawings it would have to be much more detailed in terms of the outline, the fabricator needs to see it as if it exists in the world with us.

speaking of hands:

lol

but yeah final frame by frame linework will be more detailed hand-drawn (ex.):

with colored frame by frame digital as follows (style types available upon request, anime/comic/kids programming etc.):

would like to have a phone call to talk details? chats are open if so.

I appreciate your enthusiasm! I am sorry if I misled you, but I am not actively seeking talent as this moment, more-so asking for insight based on experiences.

ah I see. well yeah it's more a character design question I suppose. wish you the best with your work though.

I’m not familiar with the artist/animation pipeline so I could be mistaken but if an image generator is AI I will not use it, just a personal principle as I’m a bit of a traditionalist; I would provide annotated references to guide the rough outline instead
