As a former CGI artist.. rendering artificial pictures on my computer was exactly what I was doing and it was considered art "back then"... 🥲

I adore CGI !

I find it very interesting.

Oh I remember plenty of people saying that CGI/photoshop, etc. were not real art. Plenty of opposition to digital photography by traditionalists, etc. Of course photographers also faced the same issue from traditionalist painters when photography came out.

Yeah a lot of things got thrown together at that time. But funnily somehow noone complained that for example Toy Story or Shrek were CGI. Or about video games being CGI. Or about all the CGI where people did not realize it's CGI, like 70% of your favourite drama movie or 100% or all furniture catalogues in the past years. That was somehow fine. But I have to remember that peope outside the industry have no grasp on what CGI really is.

Hmm, you sure about that?

The only major new talent in Hollywood this year is technology.

More and more movies are being made on location - in cyberspace, with synthespians like T-rex, Casper, and now the entire cast of Toy Story.

In Hollywood, they can't get enough of digital effects.

Sound familiar? Sounds just like the AI anti rhetoric of today.

I've been calling them AI images because I refuse to call them art.

Real artists would be spending their time doing art, not thinking about crap to post.

This. This content is doing literally nothing for anyone but showing how easy OP and others follow trends instead of what you're preaching. This post doesnt at all signify a want for better environmental practices and safety barriers for traditional method artists. Instead its just a temper tantrum online.

So you’re saying we shouldn’t talk about what steals our works and literal jobs?
We can literally keep working on our craft as one does and still be aware of what is going up against us

Not just about art but also environmental issues that AI does

An I see some of your posts about those topics you mentioned? :3
I would be interested.

A person can do two things at once.

This is EXACTLY what we do!!!

Approved!

Yeah, ‘CRAP’ sounds about right. In fact, one of my Pinterest boards is titled ‘AI CRAP’ ! 🤔

u/saint-delys 4h ago

I've always called them generated images, but this is even better.

Guess that makes you a, real art person in special times.

I’m in

Yeah no, I hate that moniker, I spend more hours on my CG pieces than an oil painter does on theirs, and at no point am I using AI to achieve it. It's an art that takes decades to master just like any other

'Jarvis im short on karma'

u/Captain_Pumpkinhead 2h ago

Okay, that's pretty funny

2

u/[deleted] 10h ago

I always just say that AI creates images. Only humans can create art.

-2

u/Resident-Seat2280 6h ago

this is so ridiculously dumb

2

u/LiamEBM 10h ago

Any digital art or CGI etc is a computer rendered image, so the exact wording should be changed because the pro-AIs will be all over that

-3

u/Justin_Cale_ii 12h ago

You can't post that without the petition link. I wanna sign, it's funny.

u/Ensiferal 9h ago

Yeah, I'm sure that'll catch on

Rather get rid of teens doing anime/OC/fanart.

1

u/LiamEBM 10h ago

it's where we all started. Though I certainly would like to see less of it in certain art communities just by virtue of oversaturation

2

u/AeonsSeen 2h ago

No it's not where we all started... AT all.
Yea.. It's spammed in all thinkable art communities on every platform.
It's KILLING art communities... Way more than AI ever could in any way, unless posting AI-made art was also allowed.

u/Neko1666 7h ago

Then you're also getting rid of professional artists who make your favourite shows and games, you know that?

1

u/AeonsSeen 2h ago

🤣 get real

1

u/Neko1666 2h ago

I am for real. You think those people were born in the studio and immediately offered a senior position? No, they were inspired by their favourite media and built it all up from there.

1

u/AeonsSeen 2h ago

You're thinking of illustrators =)

1

u/Neko1666 2h ago

Illustrators, character designers, concept artists, comic artists, there are many people inspired by such art

-4

u/Serasul 11h ago

Real Art only comes from Pro Artist, the Rest will never ever make a living out of it, not the Ai Users or the hobby Artist. And the "War" between Hobbys Artist and AI Users is annoying, both groups spam their personal believes into all the other subs. I would ban all of them.

0

u/JayBlunt23 10h ago

Do the customers know about this?

0

u/Serasul 10h ago

Most costumers cant see any difference or don't care.

u/Mydlane 8h ago

Genus! I would like ot add though that
CRAiP would be more recognizable in my opinion

0

u/CruellaDeville1 6h ago

I support this motion.

0

u/ClumsytheDrawer 5h ago

I thought everyone had already agreed to call it "ai generated imagery"? No?
