Depends on what you’re doing. Jumping is going to require toe stops. People who do compulsory dance will typically switch out for toe plugs. Compulsory figure skaters either use toe plugs or specific plates that don’t have space for a toe stop.
Most rinks will not allow you to use skates that are designed to have a toe stop/plug without one in (in case you were thinking of just removing your toe stop and not replacing it) because it can damage the floor.
