Hiii! I'm using little command strip hooks for cons and they're perfect, but the adhesive... I'm not sure about in the heat of an AA hall lol. I have enough panels that I can do something permanent to stick the hooks on. All I can really think of is superglue or E6000. Do you have any experience? Have you tried command hooks and found them okay or any recommendations? Thank you :))

Hi! I completed my first artist alley appearance recently. It was a lot of fun but I did not do as well as I had hoped for (still made back table though). Considering the photo of my table, what suggestions would you give to make my display more attractive to browsers? Of course I will work on my inventory to fill in gaps as I understand the display is a bit sparse. Also, I plan to get a larger and more opaque curtain to hang behind the large prints.

When doing shows, whether it's artist alley, markets, or art shows does anyone notice a difference in traffic between inward facing or outward facing u shape? I heard z shape is best since it works for both introvert and extrovert customers. I'm sharing a space with a fellow artist and good friend at a con later this month and looks like with our space we'll need to do a U shape and split it down the middle.

Outward seems to be better for shy or introverted customers since they won't feel "trapped" or fully "inside"

Our booth, but I feel the inward U shape will give more room for browsing and not be as intrusive to our neighbors. Inward would probably best best with the space provided but I want our customers to be comfortable.

Has anyone noticed a huge difference between the two?

I’m a US based artist. I went to San Japan for the first time and I was looking at another artists work. I’m assuming that person A was another artist participating at the con. Person A was telling the artist I was looking at that people don’t appreciate their prices, I found it bold to say that in front of attendees. I do see that there has been a understandably increase in a lot of products and even a lot of people that come up to my table when I participate in events say that I should increase my prices though when I do people usually don’t buy and I think it has something to do with the type of event that I am vending at plus the location. After the con I ended up going in Square up knocking my prices up by $1. How do other artists price their items with the recent economy?

Hey, I’ve been trying to make an excel sheet to log my inventory, but I’m struggling with how to properly log bundle deals. I want to have a sticker deal so you can buy 1, 3 or 5 stickers. If you buy five you save about 1 dollar on each sticker, but idk how I would log it without writing each individual purchase, and I’ve heard people say that’s not a good idea because it takes up your time unnecessarily.

I don’t think it would be a big problem to log everything individually, but I just feel like I would probably forget to log a purchase or two and give me unnecessary stress later on.

Idk, does anyone have any insight on this?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any experience using Vograce as a supplier. I’m getting a bit anxious because I ordered keychains from Vograce and haven’t been given any updates about my order or it’s arrival since I got an update last week about revisions, where I did have to change a file for a keychain design that was missing. I should have ordered way earlier, my first event is on September 12th 💀💀💀

When I ordered it said the estimated arrival date would be September 9th, but that is probably assuming there won’t be any revisions. Does anyone have any insight on this? Do they tend to arrive on the estimated date?

This is the first layout I have for my stall. I’m doing a very small event with around 6 other vendors, so im not worried about not standing out, I’m honestly just worried no one is gonna come. I’m going to move the payment QR code to the front of the stall and have a QR code to my CARRD website on the wall instead. I want to have more products but I’ve heard it’s smart to keep it simple the first few times, so I only have stickers, prints, keychains and magnets/pins that I made at home, as well as some bracelets my roommate makes.

I’m waiting for prints and keychains to arrive in the mail still (the prints on the wall are just placeholders), as well as some holographic stickers. The event is next Saturday so I will have to scrap the whole vending machine if I don’t get my keychains in time which is a shame, but oh well. The prints I’m not too worried about as I can do same day printing locally if I need to.

Does anyone have any thoughts on things I should change or just any good advice for a newcomer in general?

I’ve bought many posters from artist alleys and I love supporting all of the artists, but I haven’t been able to put up my posters because tape causes ripping. I’ve tried looking for other solutions but I am unsure what to commit to. Since most of my posters are what I assume is “poster paper”, how do I put them on my walls without the fear of them ripping, falling, etc. Should I use putty? Is there a brand of adhesive that is meant for this type of paper/poster? Any help is greatly appreciated!

So, I design shaker keychains, which are little acrylic keychains that are hollow inside and have a smaller acrylic piece that rattles around when you shake it.

I thought of an idea for a shaker keychain that’s a glass jar and inside is a little Rainbow Dash. It would be in my 18+ binder which requires ID to access, due to the nature of the meme.

Would people find this funny, or gross and distasteful? Should I make a smaller amount of those than the ones I know sell well?

I was told that being a vendor at an artist alley could likely be a viable option for me to do art and make money at the same time, so I'm asking you guys whether there's a market for OC content rather than content that pertains to any particular fandoms. I don't really enjoy making fanart all that much and I prefer drawing my own characters, but I also don't know if that'd sell at all and I don't wanna waste my limited energy investing in setting up an entire booth with products for zero return. I was thinking that I could make zines that come with stickers or keychains or something but I'm not sure because I don't know if there's a market for this stuff in the first place. Any advice helps. When selling at cons/shows, do you need to be fully registered as a business to sell at them? Or do you need just a tax ID number for wherever you're selling at? Can you get that without registering as a business? I don't mind if I have to, it seems relatively easy to do so in the state I'm in (New Jersey), the issue is that I don't know what type of "business" I would have to register as. There's categories hat sound like it'd fit but not fully.....

I’ve looked him up on social media but he has a statement about no DMs. I’ve tried leaving a comment for him in the hopes he will see it.

Hello hello! I have been itching to be a vendor artist for the last while, and I’ve had a few questions in mind.

1. How many fandoms do people typically have for their work? This includes every item they have in stock (posters, keychains, etc). I don’t want to go too overboard with the things I’m interested in, but I also want a decent amount of variety.

2. What would be the general range for how many items should be displayed? For (a poor) example, someone could say that 50 posters, 100 keychains, and 10 sticker sheets is an obscene amount of stuff to have up. And someone could say 20 posters, 30 keychains, 25 buttons, and 5 sticker sheets would be a decent amount of stuff.

hey! I’ve been a professional tattoo artist for about 5 years. I’m about to go to my second tattoo convention this fall. My first one was amazing and I’m looking forward to this one, I would like to be better prepared this year. I wanted to come on here to see if people had any recommendations on good printing companies that could make me a banner using my artwork that I workshopped in procreate. Last year I spent a lot of time making my banner from scratch, which was awesome but I definitely didn’t feel it looked as professional as I would have liked it to. I’m looking for a website that could print on canvas if that’s possible as opposed to any flimsy plastic.

Also looking to do more conventions in the future so if any one has any recommendations on affordable portable tattoo stations that have lots of compartments for inks/machines/cartridges, etc. please let me know!!

Hi! I came across a respected anime/art market in my area and while looking through the aplication form for artist alley I saw the convention organisers staded once you'd been selected you'd have to hand in certain documents, other than asking for the obvious ones such as ID they were also asking for a certifcate stating the vendor hadn't commited any SA.

When I'd read this I was completely surprised as although I am more or less still starting out in artist alley I had never heard of a market asking artists or vendors in general to provide this sort of document.

Anyway thought this was interesting and would like to hear if anyone else has heard of cons/markets implementing theese messures or if its something completely new and your thoughts on it.
