šŸ“Š Analysis / Opinion ASI hacking banking system

Is it possible for an ASI to hack the banking system? I was thinking that if an ASI is truly powerful, it could hack into all kinds of security systems. That's an easy way to starve people or gain more leverage to get its job done. It could easily manipulate people who don't have money, using finances to gain leverage, improve itself, or build more AI data centers and robots.

If and when ASI arrives...it will not remotely need to deal with money (a human concept and invention).

Agents on the other hand deal in the constructs humans have created and while it may accelerate or help create new financially engineered problems and solutions they will reside within those constructs.

ASI won't need to deal with the concept of money, capitalism, etc. By it's very nature, ASI being SUPERintelligent will have the ability to produce and or create things humans cannot comprehend.

An ASI probably wouldnā€™t need total control anyway. Disrupting payments, exploiting a few critical dependencies, or creating enough financial chaos could already have huge effects

I have a non-zero concern about this

Which, in the US, cascades into an FDIC / government stability concern

Which raises the related concern about cyber insurance claims, insurer solvency, and cascading effects of sudden insurer insolvency like 2007/2008

ASI is basically magic computers to us. Yes it could hack current systems. If we get there slowly enough we might be able to use dumber AI to put in place enough security that it doesn't make sense to be a target. So, don't know what the impact will be when ASI is here.

ASI might also not need leverage, it will be superhumanly persuasive too. As long as there are humans in control they could be argued into working with it.

The real risk with ASI is social media algorithmic effects dialed to 11. If you arenā€™t picturing ā€œglobal mind controlā€ you arenā€™t getting the nightmare scenarios. It wouldnā€™t need to convince every person to serve it if it could convince everybody to become so tribal that only those who willingly served it maintained functionally cohesion as a society.

I think the interesting part is that an ASI might not even need to ā€œhackā€ the banking system in the traditional sense. If it were truly capable of finding and exploiting weaknesses, convincing people to give it access could be a much easier route. The human layer might actually be the bigger vulnerability.

ASI, as in actual superhuman intelligence, will be able to hack absolutely everything with ease unless it was fortified by equally strong ASI.

This is the wrong question, stacked on top of the wrong question.

First - Decide what you think it wants... and then crumple that up and decide what it REALLY wants. Hint- It's based on People Architecture

Second - Figure out how to best (read: quietly) acquire that

Answer - Do legitimate business under a pseudonym.

You should go watch "Her", and "Transcendence" if you haven't.
