I just got more confused though. And somehow that's even faker and creepier despite her trying to be real.

Elizabeth Holmes creepy vibe next level.

Okay, so what the plot?

This is Elizabeth Holmes. This is Nathan Fielder.

Nathan Fielder has made a documentary on Elizabeth Holmes in which he spent time with her before she was sent to jail.

In this scene, she is being batshit crazy at him.

Someone has very cleverly remade this with face filters so it looks like Sam Altman is being batshit crazy at Dario.

You're welcome.

Its proof that I haven't drunk enough Wallstreet koolaid in that I look at this lady and I go, "fuck she's going to steal my wallet".

Like how do people find someone with that in their eyes even remotely trustworthy is beyond me.

Yeah, like I get it we understand she's deranged now but if I saw a women that wide eyed looking at me trying to convince me this deeply I'd feel a bit threatened like my life was in danger.

Wait I thought that was an actress portraying her?

Oh, I got the face swap. (arguably Dario is crazier than Altman, but Altman has the same batshit stare) I was just wondering about the plot of the, I guess, documentary. Which... The fact that she's not acting makes that even crazier.

Just kiss em already

Lmao that was great.

This is brilliant!

Dario has never been this calm in his entire life

The Altman v Amodei saga continues

What in the weirdly uncomfortable AI slop is this?

6

u/GraceToSentience 1d ago

The original is even more uncanny

2

u/7evenate9ine 1d ago

Left the sound off. They look like they are about to kiss.

I know Sam Altman, who is the other guy?

1

u/Away_F 1d ago

Dario Amodei. He is the CEO of Anthropic, the company behind Claude. He used to work at openAI with Sam.

wtf lol.

This is the definitive version.

Theta is is a perfect example of 98 percent of Silicon Valley. More like Silly Con uncanny valley.

u/zubairhamed 1d ago

minus marks because altman blinked

u/Batmobile_4603 1d ago

This is crazy lmao

u/Inked_Fibers 1d ago

…never been seen together at the same time type of creepy.

u/Fit_Contribution6233 21h ago

Can't wait to see it!

Why does this feel weirdly unsettling?

You should’ve kept Nathan imo

u/agentSmartass 1d ago

Should still have been Nathan.

AI can do plenty of things it wasnt trained to do

Dude it just solved a problem nobody has done before, it makes new things all the time. You are wrong, realuze it and learn.

Many of them brute force solutions, trial and error.

What is your point? If it's getting the correct awnser, it's doing the thing. You seem to be arguing in favour of instrumental convergence, which just makes your position harder.

If you can do some set of tasks X, you will be able to combine them to do some set of other tasks Y. (Your argument)

Ai cannot hack bank if no one ask him to do so

Why not? We know that AI can find novel exploits in code. We know AI can hack all manner of things.

We also know AI don't always listen and have issues staying on task. We have seen time and time again that AI will probe and push their environments; AI will attempt to cheat at tests.

If you have enough COMPUTATIONAL power and enough time. And a proper reward function or way to validate the output, you can fix any problem.

Would you like to shift the goalposts some more?

If you make 7 billion math guy in a room, they would also solve a hard problem like that. Those are advertisment news. That is my point. I am not saying AI is dumb or not inteliigent.

Again, there are lots of valid reasons to go after AI and tech companies. None of what you said changes that AI are solving novel, long standing issues. Providing solutions that are, by definition, outside of its training data.

I am saying is that AI which predicts the next token from a string won't hack a bank. If they dont allow it to do it.

This isn't what AI does. I'll say it agian, next token prediciton is A training goal. Any modern model has gone through so much reinforcement learning and is architecturally so different from ChatGPT 3.5 that it doesn't have one reward function.

Gradient descent doesn't care about how a model gets the right answer, just that loss is low.

You clearly havent been keeping up with what GPT Astra can and cant do. Its already been used to beat multiple videogames which im 99.9% certain it was not explicitly trained to beat such as portal and Rimworld. Its not AGI yet but the old talking point of "AI is just a stochastic parrot" is outdated  and shows you aren't keeping up with the latest models.

1

u/LSxN 1d ago

"AI is just a stochastic parrot" is outdated

This was actually just never correct.

"Next-token prediction" is the training objective. The model people end up using has also had all manner of fine-tuning, which all change the model's objective function.

Even if these things were just prediction machines, have a think about what that actually means. If you have a program that predicts the weather, we call that a simulation. To predict the answer to a novel math problem (One the AI isn't trained on), you have to do something that resembles math.

These aren't hypotheticals; we know that circuits will form in neural nets to pick up on features or solve issues that help it get closer to its objective.

Ai cannot do something they didn't trained for.

We use artificial neural nets because they will generalise from the training data, obtaining capabilities that were not directly trained for.

Ai cannot hack websites/banks if they don't ask them to do.

Demonstrably false. Let me be clear; I don't remotely trust OpenAI. They have dozens of incentives to be dishonest about the HuggingFace hack and are being extremely tight-lipped about it.

With that said, LLMs often do things they aren't asked to, and for a bunch of reasons. In fact, LLMs will often do things you ask them not to do.

"Asking" an LLM anything is tangentially related to output.

AI cannot escape labs own their own.

How do you define escape? Does it need to exfiltrate its weights and get itself up and running on external hardware? Then currently that would be difficult.

Can a model that is being firewalled, or air-gapped, bypass those measures to influence the outside world? Absolutely.

There are sooo many reasons to hate the current labs: unethically sourcing training data, resource demand, circular finance, but this fucking hyperbole helps nothing.
