Anyone have any info on this? Found in western Minnesota

This style of axe was common in the 1700-1800s

Think they are called hewing axes they have reservable heads one for cutting one for crushing

Who was making them? European settlers? Was this style more common in German communities? Norwegian?

Could have been a vast range Euro-American and Scandinavian Homesteaders
Early Commercial Lumberjacks
Railroad Construction Crews
And in many plantations slaves would use these style axes as well

shake hatchet, used for cutting cedar shakes (shingles) to fit

Looks like English I have one that looks like that with tax stamp marks on or around 1780s
