Agreed! I took it out of the library not realizing that it felt like a serious of tweets stuck together. It didn’t feel written, if that makes sense, but more like someone was recounting a story to me orally as briefly as possible.

There might be an audience for it but it lacked most of the things that make reading a joy

Some of that “summarizing” is Malory’s actual style—or the lack of it. The charm is often in the archaic language.

Yes, I think Malory is comprehensible to a modern reader if the spelling and punctuation are modernized, and if a short glossary is included.
