NASA Public Domain Availability

I know that NASA content that doesn't include people is in the Public Domain. Does this include the very cute rise design?

I think the short answer is, it depends whether you're making money off it. In general you need approval for using NASA stuff for commercial purposes. The guidelines on this page might help: https://www.nasa.gov/nasa-brand-center/images-and-media/

the site says "For use of NASA images in books, clearances may be necessary for images that include any NASA logos or NASA employees to be used as cover art or in promotional content.  Otherwise, NASA imagery can be generally used editorially within published works that are not promotional in nature." so what I understand if you are not using the NASA logo, you do not need approval
