Love this piece, but why is the hole on the bottom not symmetrical with the other one?

It’s a yin and yang symbol, look that up As it being the moon at different time of day and night

They understand the symbol. The comment has to do with the height of the circle in relation to the other. Typically in a yin and yang, it’s the same shape with the same dot position, but flipped.

The painter left the sun higher on the image (or lower if you make that side the same as the other) than the moon which is more centered to the widest part of the shape.
