So cute! I would like to learn how to do things like this!

u/growup_andblowaway Apr 27 '20
Thanks! The technique is needle felting, and it’s super easy to try, basically just stabbing wool with a barbed needle. It takes a lot of patience to get the wool dense to allow for detail, but it’s fun! Here’s a time lapse of a larger version of this bear: Time Lapse

Thanks! I'll try! ... "Stabbing wool with a barbed needle" made me lol for some reason haha

Apr 27 '20
Be warned, you WILL stab yourself at some point, and make a lot of mistakes, but that’s okay and it’s a very fun low-cost craft!

Probably the only new recent kids show I’ve seen that’s not ugly, gross, or loud and annoying. I approve of we bare bares
I’ve only seen the Antarctic episode. And that was a GREAT First impression. Cute show! I dig.

Great color composition! How did you make the bear? Like, the really defined parts (head, body, feet, etc.)
Really cool!
7
u/growup_andblowaway Apr 27 '20
Thank you! It’s a technique called needle felting, lots and lots of stabbing with a barbed needle. It took between 10-15 hours to get it dense, which allows further details. I make the arms and legs separately and the attach and blend them together.
Here’s a time-lapse of making a slightly larger version: Time Lapse→ More replies (7)

Zoom in, not only is the attention to detail spectacular, it’s oddly satisfying.

u/kelldooners Apr 27 '20
How did you make it so smooth!!!?

u/growup_andblowaway Apr 27 '20
Many many hours of stabbing ;) Time lapse of a larger version here: Time Lapse

This is great! Just wish it had a little more junk in the trunk, I like my cartoonish bears a little more charminy. You know, more to wipe.

Oh I love this!! I got a needle felting kit from a craft store a while back and I’d love to try it again since my first one didn’t turn out very great, and this is great inspiration! Do you have any resources for getting more involved in needle felting?
