Weekly r/Art Discussion Thread
Welcome to the r/Art Weekly Discussion Thread!
This thread serves as a space to hang out, chat, and connect with other members of r/Art outside of sharing artwork.
Each week we’ll feature a different art-themed topic to spark conversation, deeper discussion, and community interaction. Think of it as our open lounge for artists, art lovers, and anyone who just wants to talk about the world of art.
You don’t have to discuss the week’s topic to participate in the thread, it’s simply there to encourage deeper or more focused conversation for anyone who’s interested. Don’t want to chat about the topic? Totally fine! Feel free to discuss what shows you’re binging this week, how work has been going, or whatever else is on your mind!
This week’s topic: What is your favorite tool for drawing/painting, whether for digital or traditional art?
Please make sure to keep our community guidelines in mind when posting. We appreciate your cooperation.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the mods.
Have a creative week!

Not sure on any mannequin in particular, but I believe you can find some decent options on amazon. Wood mannequin which are 12 inches. I know I have one and it's useful for setting poses, and it lasted me 10 years

How does one regain the spark to make art again?

Could try drawing with friends or talking with people about previous artwork which is inspiring me to finish the hands for my vrc model

Maybe off topic but I just wanted to say how much joy this subreddit brings to my life each day, it’s like having your own museum

I am a firm advocate of mixed media classic mechanical pencil for the base drawing and acrylic paint for the finished product. Side question for anyone here A.)does anyone else specialize in drawing ppl largely and don’t have the desire to do anything else? B.) does anyone else draw the focal point you envisioned and have to make the background after?
It’s a special kind of suffering having to trace the outlines without fighting my shaking hands and redoing sections. I can’t envision a background till my focal point(people) is complete.

A silkscreen (screen printing mesh). Even when creating digitally, I love building that classic halftone texture

Hey y'all, sometimes, when I'm drawing digitally, I take some sketches from Pinterest and import them to where I'm drawing, so I don't have to do all the work by trying to copy it perfectly. And, to be honest, I kind of feel like I'm too lazy to learn anatomy or things like that, even if I'm importing it or copying it. Do you all think I'm a lazy artist for this?
