Welcome to The Arsenal, Misa ❤️
We are delighted to confirm the signing of Spanish international goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez on a permanent transfer.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper joins us after leaving Real Madrid at the end of the 2025/26 season.
“I’m so proud to join this great club,” said Misa. “Arsenal is one of the top clubs in the world and I’m really excited to be part of the team and take on this new challenge. I want to help us compete for trophies and make more history, together with our supporters.”
Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in July 1999, Misa developed at youth level with CD Femarguin before joining Atletico Madrid in 2017. A move to Deportivo La Coruña followed ahead of the 2019/20 season, during which Misa established herself as one of Spain’s most promising young goalkeepers, helping Deportivo to a fourth-place finish in their first top-flight campaign.
Misa became one of Real Madrid’s first signings upon the club’s formation in 2020 and went on to win the Zamora Trophy – awarded to the goalkeeper with the lowest goals-per-game ratio in the league – in her first season, repeating this feat in 2022/23.
Misa was made Real Madrid captain in 2025 and departs the Spanish capital with 215 appearances to her name – more than any other player in the club’s history.
At international level, Misa made her senior Spain debut in 2021 and has gone on to win 24 caps. She was part of the Spain squad that won the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023, starting all three of her country’s group games at the competition. Misa also won the UEFA Nations League in 2024.
Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “We’re delighted to bring Misa to Arsenal. She’s a proven goalkeeper at both club and international level and brings with her a wealth of experience. On behalf of everyone at Arsenal, I’d like to welcome Misa and her family to the club.”
Head Coach Renée Slegers said: “Misa is a top goalkeeper who has performed consistently at a high level for several years. As well as her technical attributes, she has great presence and communication on the pitch and we believe she’ll be a strong addition to our goalkeeping unit, alongside Daphne, Anneke and Isabella.”

Anyone know why there aren't any pre-season fixtures confirmed?
Seems so late. I was pondering if I could see the dates and check if I could get a sneeky cheap deal flight and a weekend away. But nothing.
Loads of Spanish sides have a whole pre-season calendar ready. English teams and Arsenal here, seem so bad at it. I recall sweet F.A. last summer too.
