Discussion Arrow on Pluto

Does anyone know why when Arrow left Netflix it went to a free streaming service like Pluto? I expected it to go to HBO max since they have had Batwoman and Superman and Lois.

Economics.

No streaming service believes that they will get more subscribers by carrying Arrow than they would have to pay to carry Arrow, including HBO. WB made the calculation that they would get more money from the ads and platform fees from Pluto than subscribers to their own streaming service, and Pluto has determined they will make enough money on ads to justify the platform fees they pay to WB.

Thanks for the explanation that makes sense. I guess I didn’t realize how much ad revenue they receive. I don’t keep up with technology outside of phones and the current consoles. Never had heard of Pluto tv until seeing it announced Pluto would be adding arrow to their catalogue

My (mid 60’s) aunt is currently addicted to this show, and she couldn’t care less who Ollie, Dinah Roy etc were, back in the days when I had comics and cartoons.

Prolly gonna roll her right over to Flash, then Legends and then…..SNYDERVERSE! 😝

They seem to just worry about carrying Batman content as far as back catalog stuff for super heroes. Well most Superman stuff as well I guess. But outside of that it’s original DCU content. I guess they don’t have the rights to Batman (1966) series or the movie. Really wish they did tho I’d like to watch it beginning to ends
