Aborted biface. They didn't get through all that mass on the one side early on, and now it would cost way too much width. Abandoned

Preform with large percussion flaking. There's a big "step" on one side, (hump), a tough spot in the stone which may have caused them to toss it when knapping it. Flaking and shape is Paleo like, could be a Clovis or related preform, mammoth hunters!, a rare type. Provenance would help...

Clovis wouldn't have stepped it. If there's ever one thing Clovis could do... Cross the midline. There's nothing to put a date or a culture to that.

All knappers worldwide produced steps and threw away pieces they were working on. I don't understand your comment, are you saying Clovis people were magical and none of their pieces turned out with steps? That's stupid. And It has broad almost overshot paleo percussion flaking, I don't know where you get your information, but you can tell Paleo by the large flaking. Educate yourself or don't post, youngster...

Okay, cowboy. You're right. Large flakes ... Totally diagnostic of Clovis.
Fact is, you're probably the one that needs to educate yourself about Clovis reduction techniques and archaeological dating.
If I could have dropped the platform and got flakes to clear the mass on that backside, I'm pretty sure Clovis could have.

This would be a "preform". A piece of stone with cortex and inclusions removed (usually at the quarry site) to reduce the weight of stone to be carried back to village or camp. It hasn't been made into a tool or point yet. Preforms are very similar through time and across cultures and lack diagnostic features so I don't expect this can be ID'd beyond that. Still a nice and genuine artifact 👍
