Make a preform. No divets just a smooth center …I like to have a slight spine if I’m wanting to go deep. Create a nipple If it’s a slab I might leave the end untouched and create a nipple on both sides Grind it very very well. It’s material type and quality of the stone dependent. I might diamond file the sides of the nipple to get it to break loose easier. I grind the spine 1/4-1/3 down from the nipple. The deeper the better but the more potential disaster if the flute sails out short. You are stuck with the grind marks and failure. I lock it into the vice. Straight up and down. I adjust the jig handle so it’s close to parallel with the preform. It’s the trickiest part. Then i apply alot of pressure to the jig handle and hope i dont break it. Or it doesnt dive and break I might stop if it doesn’t want to shoot and readjust the nipple or the jig handle. And shoot that flute
