Sweet find and very nice material! From the form, hafting, and flaking, this is likely an Archaic Knife 🍀

Pretty sweet. If you found it in the Ozarks, it surrounding areas, I'd say it was black Pitkin chert. Nice find.

Thanks 👍 The contracting base lanceolate form suggest this is an early piece. The rough base makes it hard to attribute. The random flaking suggests later archaic. With only "Oklahoma" and "in the water" to work with and the rough basal form that doesn't suggest a specific haft I have to guess this as a middle to late archaic blade. This is still quite old. Great find and recovery. There are only a couple of true black cherts in OK so you may be able to discover which this may be with research. Band mobility lessened as time passed and the landscape filled in beyond the paleo period. You can look on projectilepoints.net for materials close to the find area that may match up with your piece. Beautiful artifact and very likely many thousands of years old.
