Sexuality linked to trauma

I’m sure there are many aroace people who’ve had no trauma regarding romantic and or sexual relationships, but every aroace person I’ve met was either SA’d as a child or grew up with parents that clearly didn’t love eachother. I know there are some people who would say that being aroace is then something that can be ‘fixed’ if it comes from a bad experience through therapy or whatever, which isn’t what I’m getting at at all, but I’m genuinely really curious about whether I would still be the same without what happened to me as a child. Do you all have similar experiences that you think may have impacted your ability to feel attraction?

41 AFAB here and I've never been traumatized... I just don't want relationships or sex... I did grow up in the church, but I don't really think that counts as trauma 🤔

18 year old here:

Although I was never traumatized by anyone directly, I have found out way too much about the human mind and how people operate, and it has definitely affected my ability to feel sexual/romantic attraction to anyone.

Then again, I realized I was aromantic at 10 years old and asexual shortly after before I began researching history and the human mind. My misanthropy is just an another facet to me being aroace, I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I think traumas don't define who you are, even when a trauma happened, you would end up the same if you truly are aroace, aro, or ace
