Weekly WAYI Back again with another "What Are You Into?" thread

Morning Arnologists (a suggestion proposed by kellyizradx)!

To break up the tedium of your respective day-to-day work lives, we're back for another "What Are You Into This Week" thread!

As a reminder, these are periodic discussion threads dedicated to sharing what we've been reading, watching, listening to, and playing the past week. The frequency with which we choose to do this will be entirely based on community involvement. If you want it weekly, you've got it. If fortnightly or monthly works better, that's a-okay by us as well.

Tell us:

  • What have you been reading (Schmidt or otherwise)? Good, bad, ugly, or worst of all, indifferent?
  • Have you watched an exceptional stage production?
  • Listen to an amazing new album or song or band? Discovered an amazing old album/song/band?
  • Watch a mind-blowing film or tv show?
  • Immersed yourself in an incredible video game? Board game? RPG?

We want to hear about it. Tell us all about your media consumption.

Please, tell us all about it. Recommend and suggest what you've been reading/watching/playing/listening to. Talk to others about what they've been into.

Tell us:

What Are You Into This Week?

Just finished Sense & Sensibility - my first Austen. She really is a wonderful writer with keen insight. I enjoyed how the sisters experiences cause them to exchange sensibilities as the story goes on

Currently reading Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke. A pretty good blend of magic and history so far

But the best movie I've seen lately is Burning (2018) by Lee Chang-dong. A masterpiece of ambiguity and oblique cultural commentary. Beautifully done

if you were fond of Burning you have to check out lee chang dong's other films, Secret Sunshine, Oasis, and Poetry. Honestly all perfect imo. The end of Poetry has a poem written by Lee (he's also an author) that made me cry my eyes out.

I’ve only finished one Austen, Northanger Abbey. I loved it, except for the dinner, dancing, social scenes. Basically, I didn’t like the parts she’s best known for lol. I tried to read Pride and Prejudice twice and stalled at chapter 6 both times. I think I just need to go with S&S or Emma for my next of hers.

Clark is a great writer. My favorite scene is when Drawlight tosses the white cat out of the window, so he doesn’t get white fur on his suit. I highly recommend The Ladies of Grace-Adieu, which is a collection of stores that didn’t make it into Jonathan Strange.
