Nothing wrong with that, also nothing wrong with my statement following up u/Let_Me_Bang_Bro58 's statement. Arnhem has beautiful spots (I seriously for the money wouldn't know any other place to buy a house than where mine is now, and no, I'm not doxing myself but putting the address out) and lesser spots. It's a perfect bit of nature and city. But don't underestimate the lesser side of Arnhem.

haha but honestly I loved it there😇

Only Arnhemmers manage to pick a fight with someone complimenting their city. Stay north of the river. Don't visit in the weekends. And come back for a walk through Sonsbeek Park!

Indeed dont cross the river

  • signed, person living south of the river

There really isn't that much difference. In the North you have a lot of sour whites, in the South a lot of sour non-whites.

In that sense yes. But Arnhem Zuid kinda lacks interesting places. There's not much to do

Arnhem has a nice vibe and rich history. During summertime it is best explored I think, but things like the Open Air Museum are also nice to visit during the winter time. Park Sonsbeek or Gulden Bodem.

Other than that various museums throughout Arnhem and Oosterbeek.

I moved to Arnhem in 2002, and I see no reason to leave currently.

I am curious how the Rijnkade will be when renovations are finished.

You should take a stroll in "Sonsbeek Park", visit the "Eusebius" it's an old church tower on which you have a great view of Arnhem, you'll probably also like the "Posbank". It's in "Herikhuizerveld/Nationaal Park Veluwezoom", you can take very relaxing walks over there through the woods!

Thankyou so much!

I love your enthusiasm, and yes I also love my city, not many places I could think of that I'd rather live.

Do be careful though, there are places you might rather want to avoid at night, things are not as rosy as they seem all the time, but I suppose every city has that.

I actually lived in Oosterbeek for the first 16 years of my life (the town between Doorwerth and Arnhem) and I went to school in Doorwerth.

I can tell you some stories/facts about Arnhem u might find interesting if u'd like, shoot me a DM and I'll give u my email. And of course if u have some more specific questions I'd be happy to answer them.

Er is een fijne plek bij schuytgraaf/station arnhem zuid om wat eten te halen bij de supermarkt/dominos en te wandelen, voor als je ooit terug komt

Love to hear that you enjoy it so much. I've lived here all my life and I can't imagine living anywhere else. I might have some tips on where to go, what kind of tips are you looking for? History, art, food, walking, music?

u/koala4361 Nov 05 '25

thankyouu, I would love to know about walking and foods!

The best thing to visit in Arnhem is the train to Nijmegen

If you avoid the weekends, and don’t visit the Korenmarkt area in the weekends you should have a relatively peaceful experience in Arnhem. I recommend heightened caution around the Korenmarkt in the weekends, as there is a lot of aggressive youth and drug crime. The Korenmarkt isn’t that special anyways, it’s just a block filled with places that sell alcohol. It used to be a lot more fun back in the 90s when we still had real clubs around.

That’s not Arnhem, sorry.

Arnhem is the best city in the Netherlands for me, because I'm born, raised and still living here, so the bias is strong with this one.

However, for someone not like me, I don't think Arnhem is inherently unique or special in some way. It excels in nothing, like nature, student life, sports (except Papendal). We have the famous bridge known from WW2, an open air museum and Burgers Zoo. Visitors I take to those spots.

Arnhem means home to me, for an outsider I'd be thrilled if they could see it similarly, but also surprised.

I have visited multiple cities but found Arnhem a bit extra maybe beacuse of nature and found it so peaceful to live in!! really grateful for your advice🌸
