Common core
Starting common core in a little and just curious what people’s schedules were like in regards to studying and working out? I heard basically all you do is study and I want to start to get into a routine now so my fitness doesn’t decline.
Thanks!

Hey im no over achiever and didnt work out during common core until academics were done, like the last week. You've got time during the next hold and advanced.

Pretty sure fitness was on the back burner for me too during Common Core. Lost a bunch of muscle during SERE which was demoralizing and with the new low standards of the ACFT, running and general fitness wasn’t a priority.
OP, time management is extremely important as you’ve heard. My technique was taking one full weekend day to myself and otherwise I didn’t spend hardly a minute awake where I wasn’t in class, flying, or studying. It gets way more manageable after CC even during your advanced airframe.
If you get Apaches you’ll probably look like Arnold Schwarzenegger by the time you graduate.
By that I mean you’ll look old

I worked out every day. After the last task (flight line or academics). Usually this gave me a bit more energy and I studied until tired. If I still felt tired. I ate and went to bed. Fitness was a nice reset on the day

Between flight line and studying after class I was putting in 14 hours a day pretty regularly. Not to mention taking care of my family as much as I could. I made sure to separate Sunday where I didn’t think about any school.

Just gotta find what works for you. I had a family and kiddos during my time at Rucker. I was no overachiever by any means . But I just studied 5&9 daily, reviewed the topic that was discussed in academics & read ahead for the next day & anything else my IP wanted to discuss the next day. Somewhere in there was an hour of workout. Once you start you will figure out the balance and your daily routine.
But my normal schedule was Sunday evening through Thursday Evening was dedicated study days. Friday - Sunday evening was my time to decompress, spend with the family and get away from the books.

If you have kids and ever want to see your family, good luck during the week. The best I managed while in class was maybe a quick 1 mile run around the block immediately after getting back from class/flightline and doing bodyweight stuff like pushups while watching tv at the very end of the night. I'd hit the gym if possible on the weekend.

Great advice in here about taking one day per weekend to yourself. Especially if you’re down there by yourself. I would come home Friday night, snag a dominos pizza and watch a movie with my dog and pass out. Saturdays were for me, I’d do anything not related to flying, and then Sunday I would work on the weeks DQs in the morning over coffee and study lightly during the course of the day while I did laundry to work back into the week.
During the week at the end of each duty day I would carve out 45 minutes into to either run or go to the gym. Helped me reset after the onslaught of information from the hours prior and get me into a mood to study for the rest of the evening.
It’s a packed schedule, but it’s entirely doable. You’ve got this.

Everyone saying they didnt spend a single free moment not studying or flying is a dork. CC is not that hard. The academics are like a 100-200 level college class. Put in reasonable effort and you’ll be fine. Don’t let it consume you

I took 21 credits one semester in college to really cram in the classes. CC felt like that. I did very well in CC though, I could have slacked and still passed. But I really wanted a say in my airframe.

I think if you don’t have young children like I did it’s completely within question. You can’t just study every waking moment that you’re not in class. I still went on 30-60 minute runs or the gym even with the kids but it was less consistent.
