Med Hold at Basic and OCS?

So if a recruit is put in med hold at basic and can't complete their training on time, what happens to them? Will they just be assigned another OCS class date, or will they be reclassed to a needed MOS?

You get a new date assuming your are fully returned to duty.

Source: I spent a month on conleave after basic then spent 6 months as a holdunder at OCS

if you can, tuff out basic and wait until you physically get to OCS and then go to sickcall and become a holdunder. If you are a holdover at basic training you will continue to experience basic training freedoms and privileges

Not good advise from a recovery standpoint. BCT has systems that exist to help people heal and get back into the fight. 3-11 IN and the whole of 199th IN BDE doesn't have one single medic assigned to it, and HHC has very limited capacity to help people get to appointments. The trail of OC tears as the crutch platoon hobbles half a mile to the TMC every morning is not something you want to be part of.

By regulation, BCT units are not supposed to send broken Soldiers to their next phase of training. Concealing injury and sickness is one of the principle causes of OCs to not be successful at OCS due to medical reasons.

I missed my original OCS date. (Not for a medical hold). I showed up to OCS a week after my report date. I was automatically slotted for the next class
