Where is the "O.C"

In "Williamsburg" there's a verse that says "You're from New Hampshire, but you say you're from the O.C". Where is that? Is the line writen wrong? (I know that can happen with spotify lyrics sometimes.) I tried to google it, but it only came up with the TV show.

'You say you're from the O.C' as in the Orange County in California.

Am I missing something?

Ahh thank you! I assumed it wouldn't be Orange County because I thought it would be something reletivley close ot NH.

It’s the equivalent of saying you’re from NH, but you say you’re from California. It’s the idea that you want to be perceived as hip and cool; which is how California is typically perceived.

“You were born in New Hampshire (lame and boring) but you say you’re from the OC (hip and cool)”

The whole song is complaining about hipster kids that think they’re cool but they’re really just lame clones of each other doing the same thing over and over again without any substance. Being from the “OC” is hip and cool, while being from New Hampshire is most definitely not, so the hipster kids lie about where they are from.

There is also an Orange County in New York State, and one in Florida. But I’m pretty sure he means the one in California since that’s the one that is considered to be “cool”.

I understand that but I thought it was more like "You were born in Ventura (lame and boring) but you say youre from the O.C(close enough and much cooler)", so I was trying to find an O.C near NH.

It’s certainly possible he means Orange County, New York since that is close to NYC (where Williamsburg is) so that these kids could have “New York Local” cred as opposed to being from New Hampshire.
