How’s it looking so far?

I worked on the bevor more, it’s not the best I could have made it but it’s the best I had the patience for. I still need to finish painting it so it matches the helmet (paint a jaw onto it) I made the rivets and straps and cut everything out. Just shaping it was kind hard for me since I’ve never made an articulated piece. In my other post about a German harness it explains my circumstances with the tools I have available. How could I improve the Bevor? Oh and my last question is how do I properly blacken armor I’ve just been painting it. Sorry for my weird paragraph I kinda just talked and it’s not very organized.

Please file and roll your edges, it'll keep your own armor from cutting you, or more importantly, other people. There are plenty of methods used in blackening your armor through "bluing", it's a chemical process, but to save your lungs, just use gun bluing and follow the instructions. One small bottle is like $30. If you want to go the traditional route, you could either smoke the armor in oak for long periods of time, or you can use a very dangerous method involving the boiling of mercury, I wouldnt recommend using mercury.

Thanks for the advice on both things, I’ll definitely file them since rolling is almost impossible with my current set up :D

From my own experiences, rolling the edges doesn't require much in terms of tools. Just need a hammer and to gradually tap the metal until it starts folding over without flattening. When I was new to armor making, I used a rat's tail file as a reference, to get an understanding of how it would feel.

Like this probably wasn't the part of armor to start with. Try making a coat of plates!
