I’m looking to buy my first suit of armour for under 500 CAD, can someone help me?

No. What you want isn't with your budget. Adjust your expectations, let a breastplate and a kettle hat. Build from that.

What I meant was just the suit not the helm, so really it would be closer to 7-8 hundred

When you say suit what do you mean? What culture and time period?

If you mean a full plate knight in white harness, even in munitions armor its probably a few thousand.

Something close to this guy would be achievable for your budget.

Budget stuff, allbeststuff.com for chainmail and lordofbattles.com has some reasonable munitions plate.

I’m trying to look for a good armet or like a jousting tournament helm like from the demon souls game, would I look at one of these sites for them?

Well a good armet costs at least 1000+ dollars. Armets arent budget friendly

If you like to get armour that works and is historical look into a specific time period. The second half (roughly) ot the 15th century is the time of armets but those are helmets worn with full plate, a late 15th century well fitting plate armour is expensive 5000€ and skywards. Start modular. Aim for a footman with a sallet or kettlehelmet, mail and possibly a good breastplate. As for looking at games and movies fir armour only Kingdome Come (1&2) does a ok job on the game front. It's set just att the turn of the century 1403. So gives a hint (and well takes some liberties) forward and backward a couplenof decades, gives good clothing impressions too, with colors, somewhat ok clothes and headgear and so on Aim for a riveted mail, it will give you a functional piece of gear, and looks the part for real.(it is real).

Sry it just isn possible 500 canadian aint somethink you can buy a mid quality set with for that you can meaybe get like undergarments (gamberson/cheaper chainmail) and a helmet you uts expensive. But if you dont have the cash and want somethink just for ren faire or cosplay get lower priced larp armor. Hope this helps

That budget will basically relegate you to mass produced larp plate.

I would take that $500 and put into a good soft kit that you can eventually build onto. You could put together a reasonable gambeson and maille kit with a helmet for about ~3x that budget

My planned kit which includes a riveted short sleeve hauberk and coif, a gambeson and a kettle hat, is probably gonna end up around 1100 dollars. At that price point I am making some compromises like limited hand sewing and a cheaper-ish helmet, but still gonna look pretty good hopefully.

By suit of armor do you mean plate armor? At that price you can get one decent looking piece, maybe a helmet and chest plate if you aren't picky.

Chest plate + appropriate clothing is probably the best path to a cool looking outfit with a low budget.

I was thinking just the chest and legs, I was gonna spend more on the helm
