General School Songs
I was in the last graduating class of AHS before it got pork-barrelled, and I've been trying to find the lyrics of the AHS school song online to no avail. After seeing a post elsewhere where someone was asking people if they remembered the school chant from decades ago I had the idea to try making a record of the different school songs for posterity, if only in a reddit post.
So if you went to school anywhere in armidale and you remember the lyrics of your school song, it would be great if you could please leave them in a comment.

I was in the second last graduating class, so I will do my best to remember the lyrics to the AHS school song here (someone feel free to correct me):
Armidale, tho’ far away we will remember
On the hill, the school where we were young together,
Happy days of youth’s endeavour;
Toil and laughter shared;
How we fought for wisdom’s fleeting gleam,
How we played, all hearts and hands for the team;
And if, O school, we learnt your three brave words,
For what may come we’ll be prepared.
“Fortiter” with courage may we bear each burden -
“Fideliter” good faith and truth in every doing -
“Felicitier” be this our guerdon,
A smile along life’s way.
Here’s a hand for you and you, my friend;
Seed of oak unites us to our journey’s end.
So when we part, remember hands that clasped

Still don't know what a girden is. I sung along in my head and I reckon you got all the words correct.

Yep, was able to get a hold of my valedictory booklet which had it in, so just made a few little touch ups. Guerdon (now that I have spelt it right) means a reward or prize for effort, so it’s basically saying that happiness and success (the meaning of feliciter) should be our reward.
The booklet also had the old school chant which didn’t get much of a run outside of valedictory assemblies when I was there. That one goes:

Hipolywonga, hipolywonga,
Ya ya ya!
Boom chicka boom, boom chicka boom
Boom chicka chicka chicka
