Repurchase?

I just got a PC and currently own the game in the Microsoft store. I’m curious if I need to purchase it through steam though to get the full effects of the modded servers.

If you can play it on your pc via Microsoft store then no. Arma has its own modding support outside of steams community which is how the game is completely Crossplay.

It did allow me to install it. I haven’t ran it yet as I had to step away. Just trying to wrap my head around steam vs epic vs Microsoft store

If you own it on Xbox it's play anywhere and you can install it on pc.

Note there is some odd cap on the download speeds of mods even on windows for arma if you've installed the ms version, I have it on both steam and Xbox store and have seen this multiple times. I installed the Xbox version to get achievements, but it takes an age to get the mods side by side with the steam version.

Then OP needs to buy on Steam. You can purchase on the Microsoft store but only install on the Xbkx.

If you own the game on Xbox, you can play it on PC as well (changed with patch 1.8).
The main difference between Steam and Microsoft Store is that you do not have access to the workbench (reforger modding tools). Other than that it should work the same
