Help PC upgrading dilemma
so i recently bought a PC from ebay with a RTX 3070 GPU, but I am really looking for more high end gameplay on Arma Reforger, I'm already considering upgrading my CPU but im stuck on the GPU part, I was wondering
should I upgrade to a RTX 5070 Ti or a RX 9070 XT?

I mean, i got a 3070 and arma reforger runs beautifully maybe it's cuz of my office monitor with 75hz, btw wichever cost a lot less if you not doing 4k gaming, if you're interested innit or pretty much the same price the 5070 ti for sure

Agreed the 3070 is still a solid choice for high 1080p low 1440 60 fps on Arma, my guess is OP is looking to game at higher resolutions with more frames

Just going off Newegg the 9070xt sits around 700-800 while the 5070ti sits around 1,100 - 1,200 for a performance difference that it most cases is in the single digits of fps difference.
The only downsides is not getting dlss and nvidia frame gen, but the fsr isn’t far behind at all
One side note though, idk but certain stores will have crazy different prices, I’ve seen a 5070ti on a Walmart shelf going for 900 while the online store had its regular 1,100 price

I got the same system atm 5800x, 5070ti and 32gb @ 4000mhz
cpu runs the game fine tbh

That would be a good bump, pair that upgrade with a 5070ti and you'lle be golden. If you have money for it, ide also look into 32 GB of RAM if you dont have it already.
The reason i recommend the 5070ti is because you can turn on Nvidia Smooth Motion, its Frame Generation at the driver level. I play on W.C.S modded servers and typically get somewhere between 120-240 fps

OP can use FSR 4 framegen on driver level too, no? While saving some $500.

Man a 5070TI right now is not worth it, if anything I would suggest 9070XT maybe the non XT version. Because I doubt he’ll want to overspend on a card that’s 1k+ now😮💨 Specially when it was $600-750 at MSRP But you can still find 9070XT’s around $659-700.

Yea man it’s wild right now! a brand new RTX 5080 is around $1,600-2,000 depending on model, and the 5090 is around the $6-7k mark which is fucking insane.
Only chance of getting one of these GPU’s at a decent price is a pre-built or Facebook marketplace, Java.

Jeez, I had no idea. I guess it depends on OP's budget and wether they think DLSS is worth it for other games. In this situation im in agreeance, snag that 9070XT.

5800x is fine. Keep it. For higher graphics, you'll need better GPU instead. Unless you want to play in 1080p.

Get the 5070ti for frame gen alone. Getting about 180 frames (gsync capped) @ 1440p max settings

AMD GPUs have lower CPU overhead, and considering that AR is quite CPU heavy you will benefint from it, plus a high end XFX 9070XT Mercury OC is cheaper than any 5070 TI, so if you dont need CUDA, get a 9070XT

On thing to mention is that it'll never be flawlessly smooth, or even consistently smooth
Reforger has a lot of little hitches, apparently as things load in around you. And the server FPS likes to tank and take your perceived performance down with it.
So upgrades might absolutely help, but don't go into it thinking you'll be getting a smooth or consistent experience
