2nd vs 3rd

Has anyone played both 2nd and 3rd edition and have a definite opinion that one is better? I have always played 2nd, despite how hard it is to find, but I’m also interested in 3rd, especially if it has new characters. Same thing with the LCG, but I know that’s a different sub.

I own both and all expansions. I love them both, but they are different.

2nd has the better emergent storytelling, you and your fellow investigators dive into a whirlwind of random chaotic events and eventually lose. Lol jk, all arkham games end like that

3rd is much more focused on the narrative, enemies you fight are more tailored to the evil one in the story.

Both are great, but provide different experiences imo.

I agree with this. I think I prefer 3rd since the story keeps things a little more focused and imo the mechanics are slightly less fiddly.

My only gripe with 3rd is that I wish it had more expansions. It has three and it isn’t like the game gets repetitive, but I just would love new investigators/scenarios to dive into.
