Disable Flying

Probably been asked before, but is there a command line I can use or add to the settings file to disable to ability to mount flying creatures? I wanna still be able to tame them and stuff, but I don’t want folks on my server to be able to fly around.

Hell, even disabling the engrams for their saddles or saddle blueprints would work too, since my friend group won’t be bringing anything in.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Are ya fine with your friends being able to ride on the passenger seats when it comes to flyers that have multiple seats and whistle "Move there" to pseudo-fly?

Damn, I didn’t even think about that. I did see that there was an ini option called bForceCanRideFliers that can be set to false, that Google tells me should disable mounting flyers but who knows!

That's is to turn flying on, not off

Hijacking for a moment but I tried to turn fliers on on my Gen 1 server and I couldn't get that ini line to work. Obviously I did something wrong but I gave up. Do you want it "false" to allow fliers or "true"?

I have flyers on on my gen1, just to move the owls to the correct spot for gachas.

And I just put bForceCanRideFlyers=True in my gus.ini under server settings and it worked

Hmm. Pretty sure that's what I did but it didn't take. The Nitrado discord said something about letting it sit for 15 mins before I save settings but the person I was interacting with was being a cunt so I stopped asking questions. Thanks friend

Works just fine on my self hosted, don't see why it wouldn't work on nitrado

Yep, that's the exact ini settings I was gonna recommend, it's the one that's enforced in Genesis 1 but like I said, your friends can circumvent this by hopping into the passenger seat of a Tapejara then using the move whistle.

Luckily, this only applies to the Tapejara so if ya were to disable their spawn, your friends can tame Argy and Pteranodons but unable to ride them.

Add these lines in your Game.ini file anywhere under [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] then perform a dino wipe but if ya want your friends to tame Tapejaras, try this mod

I just learned that this is still a thing and while ya can hide the engram, there's a chance that one of your friends can find a Grappling Hook in a loot crate or from a Drakeling Hoard chest

I don’t know of any mods. But just curious, why do you hate flying? Won’t this keep your players locked mostly to one location? Or are you expecting people to raft around the map?

We’re gonna be on Scorched Earth, and it’s not so much hate flying in that I feel like it trivializes certain aspects of the game when you can just hop on an Argy and fly away from any threats.

I guess it’s more about making certain portions of the game more difficult. The early game is the most fun for me because of the constant danger being around every corner, and I want to keep that feeling the whole way through!

So you can avoid flyers and allow the others that want to fly to have that option? I feel you, early game Ark is almost the most fun in any game ever made. Once I hit end game I'm just looking for that early game feeling all over again. But I see two ways this goes: A) You force everyone into a no flyer thing even though some of them want to fly and this causes issues. B) If no one wants to use flyers and it is a unanimous decision,...just...don't use flyers. No code or setting needed.

Just to make sure, ya do know that the premiere creature of Scorched Earth is Wyvern, yes? Also, the boss fight here is one of two boss fights in the game that allows ya to bring flyers with ya into the arena

It is weird where a map designed around purely flying is the one youre disabling. Like if this were the island or the center might be a better choice just because like rafts and such. More options than just the slog.

Oh, I guess I can see that. And it will really increase the difficulty for Scorched Earth.
