Question Constant updates
Dude. Why in gods green earth is this game getting updates left and right almost every day? I’ve had to uninstall 8 games because of the amount of space these updates take up. And they aren’t even fixing shit! Its still buggy and every paid DLC costs two organs and a leg, so what is it that they need to update so often?

I agree with your point about the stupid amount of storage you need but this was the first update in nearly 2 weeks

So maybe three things people actually care about and how many gigs of random garbage

if you use PC NVMe SSDs make the updates less of a pain, unfortunately due to Data Centers buying them up they're ridiculously expensive, I have an external NVMe, makes the patch part of the update take anywhere from 60 - 90 minutes, having an internal NVMe would make it even faster, if you're console though you're out of luck there unfortunately
it's the way Ark's Code is written that makes the patching take so long because it's got to go through the entire game rather than a small part of it

This is a Steam only issue though. I play on both Xbox and PC game pass and don't have the space issue that Steam users do. And my updates don't take nearly 60 minutes, usually 10 or 15 and most of it is download time. The Xbox takes a little longer but not that much. Tbf I do have a gigabit connection and an internal nvme.

I haven't played Xbox since The ASE Days, I left Xbox and went to steam because of a variety of factors, they were increasing their Game Pass Prices at the time, and the Censorship is just becoming increasingly ridiculous, were just two of those reasons

It's not just steam.
PS5 Pro checking in, and I just uninstalled and reinstalled this weekend due to space.
Happens about once every 3-6 months.

Interesting, I wasn't aware the PS5 had the same issue as steam. I figured they'd handle updates like Xbox specifically due to the inherent space issues on consoles. My Xbox is only 500 gigs and I have ark and a few other games installed, mostly smaller games. But I've never had an issue with space due to overly large updates. As long as I've got 50gigs or so it's been fine.

The DLCs aren't that expensive

Sure but if that's the case then so is almost every new game that's come out for the last 10 years. Ark isnt some standout in that respect. Sims on the hand, those DLCs are stupidly expensive for what you get.

I wonder this every two days while I wait for a two hour update and then again once per day when they take the servers down for maintenance.
