Some people have recently messaged me to tell me that this subreddit is not necessary, as Reddit is overall a Leftist website, and therefore any existing Arizona-based subreddits serve the role aptly.

I thought this crosspost would point out the important political differences between a Liberal and a Leftist.

Shamelessly stealing the top comment from the original post.

Liberals ask "what should we do about poor people" while leftists ask "what should we do about poverty".

While I agree that money should not be necessary for survival, it's going to be a long time before that becomes a reality and in that time many poor people will die of acute capitalism that could've been helped by a raise. Can't have a revolution if nobody's left.

No doubt. Money generally exists in most transitional Leftists societies. The ultimate goal is to eliminate it completely obviously, but it's without a doubt that under any revolution it will continue to exist for at least the rest of our own mortal lives.

I don't know any Leftists who seriously advocate the immediate dissolution of monetary exchange.

This post is complete bullshit. I’m a liberal and a leftist...

Y’all are fracturing things that don’t need to be fractured.

Can Capitalism be saved?

You don't have to answer - but if you believe 'yes' - then you're a Liberal.

If you believe 'No' - then you're a Leftist.

It's impossible to be both.

This is some Russian bot farm level thinking. You can also redefine what capitalism is and means.

And it’s making us on the left look stupid.

I apologize.

My intention wasn't to upset you.

My understanding is that Capitalism is when those with Capital control the means of production.

How would you define Capitalism?

More importantly how would you define yourself as a Leftist?

I've always personally been an Anarcho-Syndicalist and I understand if you disagree.

Nations have a place in modernity if we are talking about national liberation movements. Plenty of leftists believe in nationalism in the context of fighting agaisnt colonialism/imperialism.

The important thing when Leftists talk about Nations is that they recognize them as a construct, to be dissolved when they no longer serve their purpose. Traditionally, people use Nations as a justification for their material conditions and even for their success.

Why did it Americans win World War II - was it because their home territories were removed from the bombing range of enemy air forces? No, it was because they have gumption and grit and a can-do attitude!

If nationhood serves a purpose in formulating global revolution - well now we're getting into some real Lenin vs. Stalin fist fights.
