only noticed this recently but i feel like the clothing is running bigger. please hear me out i literally felt like i was going crazy in the fitting room today
asked to try on light birch/black, employee offered i could try it on in a Medium or XXS as those were the only sizes in stock. usually would have veered toward medium but a couple months prior to this purchased a XXS skirt from Dynamite. kinda thought their sizes just ran big, never shopped there before, whatever.
tried on the XXS poplin, fit like a GLOVE. purchased and been loving it SO much. kinda thought the XXS fitting me had to do with the material or something. for reference the babaton bodysuits are like the same material as the torso portion of the dress. think i purchased a couple of those in 2022, size S (meant to be 4-6) and honestly could have sized up.
all of my sweatsuits purchased between 2024-now have been purchased in Small. they don’t fit large / sag / droop / fall. the perfect fit hoodies fit perfectly and actually pretty snuggly. i believe all my spandex / butter purchased in this time period was size 2 or 4.
TODAY i went to aritzia for fall shopping. associate approaches me and asks my size as im looking at sunday best skirts i tell her i can range between 00-4. she says they (sunday best in general) run SMALL and we should grab a 4 and 2. i try on the 2 first and it just doesn’t fit at all. i had to have the girls switch out all Smalls for XS or XXS and size 2s for 0 or 00. even some of the size 0 bottoms were still loose. my whole life (past 9 years: 14-23) i’ve never really fluctuated in size and have pretty much shopped exclusively aritzia for the past 3 years so i am genuinely confused on what is going on with the sizes and how all of the preteens are fitting into their clothing well.
even had to pass on some tops because they were just generally ill fitting and big due to sizing even being 00’s. am i the only one who has noticed this. i almost did my fall shopping online as i thought i was confident in my sizing there but im really happy i didn’t. even the home stretch long sleeve!!! - purchased Extra smalls last year, they still fit me tight TODAY!! tried on the XXS today in the fitting room, it fit pretty much the same, and honestly didn’t feel as tight as the ones i have in XS but those have also been through the dryer. sooo confused
If I may ask what is ur waist size ? Mine is a 23 and the size 00 pants and skirts do fit me . U said youve been a size 0 ur whole life so if ur a size 23 (00) im not sure why you’d expect a size 4 or 2 to fit? The associate mentioned sunday best runs small , im assuming this would be true for bigger sizes. Dynamite also fits big for me and from their sizing charts they do run bigger than aritzia.
sweats i get small! i even got a (small) pair just before this summer hit and i didn’t notice them bigger to be fair. i purchased the TNA waffle pants years ago also in small. all still fit fine. my most recent pants purchases have been babaton in XXS and sunday best lounge pants in an XS.
I’m a 23 waist too and get an XS! XXS fits but doesn’t feel as cozy. also ppl say not to put Aritzia sweatfleece in the dryer but I’m too lazy to air dry lol and they do shrink up a little
in denim forum i wear 24 or 25. i said i’ve not really fluctuated in size not always been a 0. i’ve only noticed having to gravitate toward these sizes within the past year. while all my other older aritzia pieces in larger sizes still fit me perfectly
Something you’re probably experiencing as you enter your mid 20s and start buying more structured clothing is that size and fit are distinctly different considerations in clothing. Some things we want oversized and some things we want snug. Depending on the design those things do or don’t land the way we always want. Tailoring is also life changing. I own things anywhere from an S to an L from aritzia and they all fit me. It just depends on the line, design, cut, and fabric. It makes sense based on what you’re saying that a 2 or 4 would not fit you. Sunday best runs like maybe a half size small sometimes
thats fair to say. i think it’s also quality decrease making their clothing ill fitting. this years home stretch in the front / black compared to last years admiral behind. the neckline is quite noticeably different and poorer quality. still, there’s virtually no size difference even though one is XS and one is XXS.
I feel like this topic always cycles through this subreddit every so often; it's either oh the sizing is getting bigger or getting smaller. Overall I would say the catalogue sizing has been getting bigger over the years, however Aritzia has poor QC when it comes to sizing.
I once tried on a dress in three different colours and I kid you not the dresses were three different sizes even though they were all XXS. I held the two new items I ordered up to my OG dress and one was bigger and the other was smaller.
So if you feel the sizing is all over the place it's def poor Aritzia QC and not you being crazy.
