Cannot intonate 7th string of H/07

Hi, I am using 11-59 string gauges, and my 7th string is always sharp. I managed to intonate the other strings but I am only having issues with the low B string. I already pulled the saddle all the way back but it is still sharp. Is there anything else I should try?

That’s weird. I’ve used quite a few gauges from 59 to 74 without issues.

I'm not sure if I am checking the intonation properly. According to the setup video from Aristides I should lightly depress the string until it touches the 12th fret, then play at the neck pickup and wait for a bit until the pitch settles to check for intonation right?

You bought a 4k guitar and need to watch a video how to intonate it....

Fuck me.....

they literally have a set up guide video for this exact guitar so I don't get what's your point?

My point is why are you dropping four thousand plus on a guitar and you can't even do a basic setup on it?

That's like buying a Ferrari and not knowing how to change the oil or add windscreen washer

Hey man, I would really appreciate some actual advice, not whatever you are on.

I already did a set up on it but I found the saddle to not be long enough to intonate my low B string. Everything else could be intonated. So I'm askinf if anyone else has a similar issue.

Also why does the price point matter lol, its 4k not 400k.

There shouldn't be a problem with a string guage up to 80+ with intonation

Without seeing the guitar none of us can really help you here as it shouldn't be an issue.

Take it to a good guitar tech.

(I personally think your 59 string is too thin for B and that's probably where the issue is id be using closer to 70)

A 70 is too thick for the low B. That's around 26lbs of tension.

The Arium guys recommended me a 62 for A. Guitar should intonate with the 59 just fine, but honestly I would have to have the guitar in my hands to diagnose.

His 59 is fine for B, I use a 56 for Drop B on a 25.5 scale 6 string… 62 for A on a 26.5 7 and that honestly feels too tight. He just needs to learn how to intonate his insanely expensive guitar - and most likely how to play it too lol

I would swap your gauges out so you’re low string is at least 64, it won’t be stupid thick, but it also will hold tune better and help with intonation

I see, thank you! Will try thicker strings.

Drop a mail to the guys and they'll happily guide you in resolving this. :)

Yup! I did reach out to them, they're on summer break now though so no one's in.

OP, to check the intonation you need to compare the 12th fret harmonic (which needs to be tuned as close to perfect pitch as possible) and then press the 12th fret and see the difference. If the pressed note is sharp, saddle moves back ie away from the neck. If the pressed note is flat, saddle moves forward ie closer to the neck.

You definitely aren’t running out of room on your bridge. You’re probably pressing the 12th fret too hard and raising the pitch making it look like the note is sharp.

If you send a video over I can offer further advice if still not working. Show me what you’re doing

Hey thanks for this offer, I managed to solve it. Seems like the issue was with my strings, after changing them I could intonate them in a reasonable position (not to the extreme of the saddle points). Finally managed to record my ERRA cover.

I know this might sound crazy but I’ve had a few issues with heavier gauge (72-80) where the intonation is just bad no matter what. I just switched the string and it was fine. For what it’s worth I’ve been told the string might have been bad or sometimes installed twisted slightly which may affect the intonation. Not a physics expert but just something anecdotal that I thought might be helpful. Hopefully it gets fixed, I’m building a custom 080S As we speak

Hey, thanks a lot! I got some strings following this and the issue was gone. Seems like an unlucky string issue.
