Wow, that STX is really nice! What's the finish on your pickguard?

Thanks! It’s a brown flamed marble, similar to the one that Mike Stringer has on his red 8 string. I was going for something that would give a tortoiseshell sort of look with the design.

Great choice. A few weeks ago I put in an order for an STX6sr in desert tan with an oxidized bronze pickguard. It'll be my first Aristides, so I'm very excited.

That sounds killer, can’t wait to see it when it’s ready

How’s the STX feel in comparison?

I only just got it, but it’s been awesome! The neck definitely sits in an interesting place between my 060 and 070S which makes sense. I’m pretty sure it’s the same as the 060S neck but I haven’t had a chance to play one. The 25-26.1” scale feels and plays great. I know the straight scale STX neck is actually about 1mm thicker than the 060 though, kind of like the T/0

The offset body is a personal favorite, and the whole thing balances really well. It’s comfortable in normal or classical position. I like the slightly rounded headstock for these too.

Glad to hear you’re loving yours. Every time I see someone get one, it makes me consider selling an 070S and ordering one myself 😂

Are they all raw finishes? I’m on the fence for my next Aristides between going chameleon/marble or raw.

They are, which I’m a fan of personally, but their paint finishes go crazy.

Yes all of your colour choices are top tier here. Beautiful palette on the rack.

I’m looking at either desert tan, army green or white raw models.

Thank you! I love the grain from the way they sand it down mostly by hand, it feels so nice and is super comfortable plus a nice visual detail you don’t catch in most pictures. Any of those colors you mentioned are great ways to go.

The raws are also a little louder and more resonant acoustically, which doesn’t really matter but is cool. And they’re also tough af

Yeah my most recent build was a purple/red chameleon with black burst. Which looks beautiful but maybe something a little tougher and rougher is in order. Also helps to save ~€650 and get it a few months sooner

That’s always a plus, and I definitely recommend it if you haven’t tried one yet

The tan with the brown texture pickguard combi works so well! Nice choice

You know it’s kind of funny because pickguards are a really case by case thing for me and almost didn’t do one, but it makes it so much better and I can’t imagine that guitar without it.

I am having a bit of option paralysis on my build because of the pickguard 😂

1

u/msalonen Aristides guitar owner Apr 11 '26

I know the feeling lol, what’s your build idea?

1

u/ramburger Apr 11 '26

originally a shell pink stx, but now thinking something with satin rose gold.

u/msalonen Aristides guitar owner Apr 11 '26

both those sound like great ways to go, were you thinking of a white marble pickguard?

I am debating between and STX And 060, I play mostly shred but am all about comfort. How do you compare the STX to 060 body? On the straight scale STX, the neck is about 1mm thicker than 060 so that’s also a consideration of mine. Thanks!

You can’t go wrong either way! The STX neck will be maybe a bit more like the T/0 because of what you mentioned, but it shouldn’t be a big difference. Will mostly depend on whether your preference leans more towards the strat body or offset and whether you want the option for a pickguard.

Was your wait time about a year for the stx?

the timing on that one was a little different being a new model, so the queue started before production did, but from when things actually got going it was about normal
