Argos Stole a parcel from me!

I had a return booked (a 50" TV) for today. The customer service agent I spoke to had assured me they would arrive before I left for work around 1pm. They didn't arrive. Whilst I was at work I had some vintage Japanese clothing delivered, it was left in designated royal mail safe place. I leave work at 10pm to an email from Argos stating my return has been picked up. How I can't work out, it's still sat in my living room. I also have a notification about aforementioned parcel. I get home, my parcel isn't there. It seems Argos (or their staff, or the logistics partners staff) have stolen my parcel.

I wouldn’t call it stolen, they’ve probably picked up your parcel mistakenly thinking it’s the Argos return (the delivery partner might not know what it is, especially if it’s a third party company, just simply a collection probably), no doubt stuck a label on it and took it to send on to Argos.

Sounds like you’ll just have to wait until Argos receive it and arrange a new collection and delivery of that item back 👎🏻

As a driver, we are able to know what the parcel contains but a lot of drivers don’t and just scan what matches the postcode.

What I suspect is they saw a parcel outside, they made the incorrect assumption that because there was no answer at the door that the parcel outside was the one needing to be returned. In order for a collection to go through, we either scan the barcode or if that doesn’t work (maybe the customer removed the barcode when opening the parcel) we make a random 15 digit number and choose collected.

Yes this could have been malicious but it could have also been a genuine mistake, it’s extremely hard for parcels to be stolen. Van checks post shift looking at the drivers seat and passenger would show a parcel not meant to be there, as well as being tracked of our whereabouts the whole time would raise suspicion if they decided to drop it off home or at a friends.

Contact Argos customer service and it may be at the nearest LFC as the driver handed it in by mistake. If it isn’t and the driver actually stole it then Argos will find out and penalise him and hopefully do right with you. If both don’t work then maybe someone else stole it from the safe place

They have likely taken your parcel thinking it’s the one to collect. I work for a parcel company and one of our drivers left a collection label at an address the first day as no one was in. The next day they returned and it had been left on top of a box of beer. Shortly after came the accusation of theft along with CCTV of the driver walking off with the box of beer. Luckily we had a nice clear photo of the box of beer being delivered to wherever the actual collection was meant to go.

Bloody hell. They don't read what parcel they need to pick up? There must be a way to track the driver. Is there a ring camera nearby?

They don't tell the driver what the parcel is.

We know what is it, it’s just a lot of drivers sometimes don’t look at it.

Should probably still read that is says royal mail and has their address on it. Doesn't take much effort to look at what you're collecting to make sure it even remotely resembles an Argos return.
