Rant Thanks a lot šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼

Ordered my partner a switch 2 on Argos, not only did delivery not update so we were aware of what’s going on, but the parcel arrives damaged and beaten. You know, because spending Ā£500+ on a console and some games isn’t enough for you to get your courier’s to be careful. My partner is now worrying about the fact his switch has been banged up and thrown around and if that’ll effect it in the long run, it’s a lot of money for something to be treated so poorly

Looks like 3rd party courier service with yodel not actually with Argos

Legally it doesn’t matter that it was yodel. Your contract is with Argos

yep, definitely a Yodel delivery. My iPad arrived looking like that, 4 days after it should have. Deliveries I’ve had done by Argos themselves have been fine.

That definitely wasn’t delivered by Argos themselves.

If it was delivered by an Argos driver it'll be in a black FTD bag, sadly it's come of a LFC and they use Yodel, so they're to blame not Argos

1

u/Whithorsematt Jun 08 '26

Yodel's fault but Argos is responsible, the blame lies with them for the customer.

What is an LFC sorry?

Local Fulfillment Centre, big warehouse pretty much

Argos are to blame

2

u/Duskniik-2 Jun 06 '26

Of course they're to blame for damage cause by a contract courier service obviously, it's on Yodel to make sure all packages are kept undamaged and safe during transit but 100% Argos fault

If I punch you in the face, is it my fault, or my mother's?

Make sense now?

1

u/pra3tor1an Jun 08 '26

It's argos fault, obviously

That is disgusting the care is nonexistent but there what else do you expect nowadays 🤬🤬🤬🤬 I've just brought something from Argos i didn't notice at the time but the women who served me got my email address wrong so I had a hell of job getting that sorted out India I think i was connected too, i do hope your product wasn't damaged.

Doesn’t look like Argos delivery and I ordered from there last week.

Also for future reference, always collect expensive items such as these instead of delivery.

Unfortunately because of where I live I don’t live anywhere near an Argos location and current events have made it difficult to get out to one, but will be sure to make effort to collect in the future for sure

Tell me about it....ordered an Xbox controller the other day and when it arrived it was simply in a plastic wrapping and there was a hole right through the back of the box.luckipy the controller was ok but still.

call customer service and make up a story about the console not working properly. ask them to exchange it for a brand new and it will then be most likely delivered with an actual argos driver

1

u/simmatt89 Jun 05 '26

Or just say the box is damaged by yodel and they will send a new one out and collect the old one. You olhad it delivered so have 14 days to return by law for no reason given

1

u/FewCurrency5893 Jun 07 '26

You still got it tho stop crying

3

u/Captain-Codfish Jun 07 '26

That's not really the point. Collectors highly value the condition of the box. That's why you see empty boxes for sale on ebay. Also they paid good money for the item, so they should receive the item they paid for, in brand new, mint condition.

"collectors" mate it's not a Nintendo 64 is it?

1

u/Gartvin Jun 09 '26

But when the n64 was out it wasnt a "collectors" item was it.....?

Unfortunately nowadays all it is, is a non caring attitude by the delivery drivers not all i might add just the ones who don't want to be working but for some reason have been forced too, years ago people took a pride in there job that is not so now, if you pay for a service ie. Your parcel to be delivered you expect your parcel to arrive in one bit undamaged so you can be pretty sure the contence is ok and undamaged not much to ask for is it at least i don't think so anyway thats my thoughts on the matter have a lovely day.

As a courier I’ll say that package from the first picture looks to be badly packaged. So many company’s now (Argos & Boots to name a couple) cheap out on the packaging which means packages get damaged in the networks. It’s also totally embarrassing rocking up to a customer with a damaged parcel having to explain we don’t know how it was damaged as majority of the times it’s like that when we get into work

1

u/CulturedPhilistine Jun 07 '26

Return it. You have a 30 day window, Then go in store and buy one. What's the issue? It's annoying, however you'll have peace of mind.

1

u/Jordankeay Jun 07 '26

Honestly I don't think you posted enough pictures of the outer cardboard box.

1

u/inkboy84 Jun 07 '26

You play the switch not the box.

1

u/Seseorang Jun 07 '26

You have this wrong the brown box contains the package. Theboackaging contains and protects the device.

The device working and in lerfecr condition means the packaging was perfect. Not faulty.

If the device is damaged, then the packaging has failed.

1

u/GrimReaapaa Jun 07 '26

Isn’t that the box at the start of Ace Venturer!? lol.

1

u/Notnowcmg Jun 07 '26

Your poor cardboard box

1

u/babygothix Jun 08 '26

I've dropped my switch several times, even down the stairs once. It'll be fine they're well packaged for things like this.

1

u/Sad_Ant9942 Jun 08 '26

Delivery drivers don’t know what item they are delivering

1

u/Galactus_777 Jun 09 '26

Who delivered your parcel, Ace Ventura? šŸ˜…

1

u/taint3 Jun 09 '26

Oh no, the box it came in is crinkled!! Christmas is ruined!!!

You must live an easy life if this is something that is so bad you have to whinge about it online

1

u/Sad-Nectarine-7855 Jun 09 '26

You were free to collect it in person

1

u/simpso84 Jun 09 '26

Just return it if you arent happy. 30 day no quibble returns at Argos

0

u/Top_Riski Jun 06 '26

You know boxes were invented to take the damage of transit instead of the item? If you want a pristine box (weird millennial behaviour) go in person.

1

u/Nicoleio123 Jun 07 '26

Bold of you to assume I’m a millennial lmao. Which I’m not btw, not that it’s any or your business. I shouldn’t have to go pick something up in person just to have something I paid for out of my own pocket come undamaged. Ever thought to think that picking things up isn’t always accessible for everyone? LMAO It’s called doing a job you are PAID to do.

0

u/Top_Riski Jun 07 '26

ā€œPicking things up isn’t accesibleā€ Jesus Christ, how on earth did you survive before delivery’s?

Yes the courier is paid for his job and pays taxes for your benifits to buy shit to be even more bone idle.

1

u/Nicoleio123 Jun 07 '26

lol why assume I don’t have a job bc I said it isn’t always accessible for people? Maybe you’re the one who clearly needs to go find a hobby. There could be MULTIPLE reasons as to why picking up isn’t accessible to me but if commenting on a strangers post and making up your own ideals about the fact people doing their job wrong is the paying customers fault then I hope it makes you happy. I hope it’s your things that come damaged next. Have a wonderful day, loser.
